Mormons weren't enslaved. They were hunted for extermination.

They're doing quite well though. I live in AZ, and I don't see any of my Mormon neighbors blaming the past for their problems. I don't see them demanding restitution for being forced out of their homeland with nowhere to go. I don't see any evidence at all of the atrocities of the past.

I also don't see any religion pimps telling generations of Mormons that they can't amount to anything because of the past. I don't see politicians and educators telling Mormon kids that they don't have a fair shot at success because they cone from a line of opressed people. I do see the people that suffered those atrocities held up as an example of how to persevere and get through hardship. I see their kids taught that "hey, those people had it tougher than any of us and they made it, keep trying!"

They seem to be doing a bit better than the rest of the people who were shite on in the past. I wonder why.

trinitarians have long persecuted unitarians, just as catholics once persecuted protestants.

granted the mormon dogma is fricking dumb, but the fact that they don't believe in the divinity of Jesus is why Christians really hate them

I don't hate Mormons but I would not allow my son to date one when he came of age. I told him that a Mormon girl can become pregnant from shaking hands. And that's a scientific fact.

They did pretty well with headin west and getting valuable land under the Homestead Act.

Good timing on their part to relocate west.

See? People still don't understand them or know anything about them. There are more false myths about Mormons than anybody I can think of. Romney was dismissed as a candidate because of his religion. People still lie about them all the time… far more than other "oppressed" folks.

They still go about their lives and are doing just fine. Their individual problems are their own problems, and they don't blame society in general or "oppression."

If you lived in Utah you'd be more familiar with the Mormon persecution complex that is rampant there. Utah Mormons are way different than those from the other 49 states.

Homeland? The whole religion was created in a fever dream in friggin New Hampshire, and the founder was run out of town for being a fraud. There is no Mormon homeland. They were run out of every state they tried to settle in until they got to Utah.

He's probably referring to Nauvoo, Illinois. That was their first real settlement and the location of their first temple.

Mormons are proof that despite severe prosecution and being shunned by society, success can be achieved

Since the DWF shortened the season, we see them wandering our neighborhood in broad daylight. They've completely lost their fear of man.

Not really.

Maybe small town LDS, but SLC and surrounding area (like 85% of the pop. of UT) are perfectly fine, non-complaining/persecuted individuals.

And I've had more than a few conversations with practicing LDS, former LDS and many in between.

Mormons are good people, but I've only known one that wasn't off a little. Like aggy different. Like you could just tell which one in the group was the Mormon.

No what I mean?

Those people had homes, no?

Or were they savage nomads?

What's your point, and what does it have to do with the topic?
