Again, you weren't there, I was. Her intentions were clear. If she felt frustration at the second register being opened finally after a wait, she wouldn't have directed her comments to me, but the service staff instead.

If you were there, heard the comment and saw her reaction and the way she was looking up and down at me, there would be no discussion about her intent.

Sucks when someone is racist against you, doesn't it?

Now imagine if people were racist against you all the time and those people happened to hold almost all of the power, jobs, housing, and money.

I was behind the ladies waiting in the same line for the same amount of time.

Nope. I know what happened and how she meant it. It wasn't ambivalent.

Like who? The lady you spent about 5 minutes in line with in a store? You already know her entire life?

It always amazes me how white men think they can figure out a persons entire life history based on standing behind them in line for 5 minutes.

What is white privilege is you continually stating that your version of the story is correct.

He has no way of knowing for sure if she meant what he inferred. She might have been meant that totally, not at all, or that somewhat plus some other things somewhat.

But, it's wrong to hold it against her as a purely racist comment when you only think you know- even if in the end you turn out to have guessed right, you still don't know.

That said, the above quoted is silly. It may be wrong, but it's not "white privilege."

It's possible they were pissed that some poor like rev gets preferential treatment.

They were pissed that they work hard and some leech gets their way.

If you felt like it was directed towards you as you stated, then why not just tell her to "STFU" and then check out?

Soo..they were next. But, YOU took the first position at the new line?

Well YOU were the dick in this situation. You improved your position over them. You should have said "Ladies, you are ahead of me. You take the new lane"

Now we are getting somewhere.
This is what so many people in our society WANT the OP to feel. "See how that feels? You don't like it, do you? Now you know how WE have always felt."

Wonderful, but OP isn't necessarily a bad guy or a racist. He doesn't deserve shite. Nobody is better off now just because he "understands."

When will things be okay? When EVERYBODY finally understands what it's like to be "racismed" against? I don't know why, but I don't like that outcome. Maybe it's just because I don't want to get my feelings hurt, or maybe it's because it sounds more like a welcome revenge than things being "right" or "just."

I really think we're getting more and more fricked by the day racially at the pressure points. Maybe overall people are becoming more and more friendly, but I think key places in our society are getting totally screwy racially. It's going to be hilarious in the future.

I didn't have to figure out her entire life to know what she meant. Are you incapable of gauging someone's intent by their body language, voice, tone, mannerisms? I'm not.
