re: Mississippi Tries to Curb Welfare Fraud, You Know What Happens Next

We have to sign in to a computer kiosk and check our kids in and when we pick them up as well at my kids daycare. My wife and I each have our own pin number. You can't check the child out if you can't sign in to the kiosk. I don't see an issue with using a fingerprint scanner. If you take free shite from someone don't bitch about the means in which you get it.

This. Right now, the attitude is 'I want all the free shite I can get, but don't you dare make me do a damn thing for it'.

Basically, while there are a few legitimate ones, many (if not most) of these centers are defrauding taxpayers by accepting kids from this program, but the kids only come in one day a week or one day a month, but the center gets paid a hefty fee (more than I pay for a nice suburban Catholic daycare).

This is the case in LA as well

it's like y'all are surprised that the people breaking the law in the first place and stealing money don't want to stop.

Of course they are.

They are in the wrong state to start that kind of shite...people here don't put up with it like they do up in Northern cities.

Another incident like the Trayvon fiasco, no one will give a frick anymore. I'll bet a whole lot of people have already jumped off the white guilt bandwagon.

Judging from the way many people have commented and spoken out nationwide, compared to before the Trayvon incident, it has definitely desensitized many.

People are getting fed up with it. It is actually making race relations worse, because respect for the black community dwindles the more they pull the race card.

Wish every state would start doing crap like this. If it happened in Memphis all heck would break loose. There are a ton of parents who do this. Some just have their friends "open a daycare" and run a fraud ring.

Does this daycare program benefit the state in anyway?

Part of the problem is the state auditor can't find one instance of abuse.

It is federal money, given out by the state. The state has never audited, and Stacy has no plans to do so.

If he would just audit 5 daycares one day, the judge would agree to stop any presumed abuse.

But like a dollar bill that's been through the wash cycle, it still spends.

"race" card is old. The obsession with "you might be a racist if you..." is old.

How about the "dishonest" card?

How about a new obsession - "you might be dishonest if you..."?

You know, character - not race?

Actually it is pretty standard at most reputable dare cares these days. We have to do it when we drop off our children and pick them up. It is an excellent security procedure.

I see no reason why this should not be the universal means of ID - that or retina scan.

This would remove the "affordability" issue of showing an ID in order to VOTE.

Of course the criminals may not like to risk illegally voting if their fingerprints could ID them.

Ought to have a LEO at every voting place just to arrest any voter with an outstanding warrant.
