I agree with him. He's not supposed to be a celebrity. The Navy also agrees.

This. It is part of his oath. Who cares what the rest of DC / Pentagon does? People should be better than that.

Also, you knew the rules. You quit after 16 years. The rules say 20. I appreciate what you did but I do not feel sorry for you.

5 years service in Congress gains a pension.

How is this relevant? He knew the rules when he joined. He should have stayed in 4 more years.

Sounds like the Navy got tired of him, didn't find a spot for him, then just cut him loose after 16yrs in service.

Sounds like speculation.

An American Hero and I'm glad he is getting the recognition he so deserves. The military is nervous because they are concerned he will tell the truth about what happened and that might not fit their narrative.

I would be worried everyone will be fighting to tell the military's stories now. Quickest and juiciest will win. Once these fights happen then secrets will get leaked, etc. It is a slippery slope.

Meanwhile Hollywood is leaked info from the white house about the raid, and Leon Panetta writes about it extensively.

Can't both the SEALs leaking and WH/Panetta leaking both be bad? Do we have to live in a world where since one person did something stupid we should all do it?

Why should a SEAL, that lays it on the line much more than some desk jockey in Norfolk, not be treated better? Elite in virtually any other profession equates to dollars. Why not in the military?

Seals and Special Forces are well compensated for their work. An E-7 can. Clear close to 90k annually with regular deployments, special duty pay, demo pay, jump pay (halo pay is a little higher) dive pay, language pay, per diem in non combat zones, special clothing allowance, significant periods of tax free status, hefty bonuses (150,000 bonuses were the hot deal for a while as well as 72,000 for language skills with a re-enlistment) full medical, dental, unit specialized phyiscal training experts, soecialized physical therapists, college opportunities, civilian technical education etc...

Non sof guys of the same rank dont bring home 60% of what a sof guy does. The deal is 20 and you get retirement seal or no seal.
