You think they just ignored Trump's constant drumbeat of repealing and replacing obamacare?
They did. Many have been interviewed since the election and have said they didn't think he was serious about it.

Good, repeal it. Once repealed, the democrats lose the talking point about "fixing" Obamacare. They either deal on a simple market based plan or be seen as obstructionist
Well stated - far better than I have attempted.

And you forget, Trump was elected in part by blue collar moderates in the Midwest who generally support Obamacare and benefit from it.
A lot of people who think they're benefiting from it really aren't. It's just made budgeting for healthcare easier.

With two year deadline.
Meh.
So political.
We did it. Check back in two years to find out if you can afford the new deductibles in your region.

This will pass. Anyone that changes their vote from 2015 is slitting their own wrists.

The funny part is that a straight repeal would require Democratic votes to pass the Senate.

The implementation of Obamacare was much worse. Passed in 2010, not implemented until what, 2015? And, it's failed so fantastically in such a short period of time.

But as conservatives will remind them, most of them already voted for straight repeal in 2015 — and it will be hard to explain why they wouldn't do it again.
fricking assholes.

They don't want a market based plan. They don't want healthcare or insurance costs to go down. They want control.

McConnell needs to go. He's living in 1917, with his precious Senate rules and decorum, and his sense of noblesse oblige. All of the Republican Leadership needs to go.

It is difficult to discern what is meant by this, if this is indeed what was said.
I immensely enjoy Presidential history and came upon this statement recently:
quote:
By the Constitution it is made my duty either to approve the bill by signing it or to return it with my objections to the House in which it originated. I can not conscientiously give it my approval, and I proceed to discharge the duty required of me by the Constitution--to give my reasons for disapproving.
~From John Tyler's 1841 address to the Senate upon vetoing a banking bill
He continued, using constitutional articles to outline his various objections and offered guidance on what would be constitutionally acceptable. Tyler was so serious in discharging the constitutional duties of the office, he was willing to be disowned and put out of his own party (Whigs) and suffer the humiliation of nearly his entire cabinet resigning.
Relatively speaking, I too might question presidential seriousness.

He doesn't have the sack to do it.

It was just reported they think they have 51 votes to repeal, so how many do they need? Is it 50, with VP for 51?

Please, please, please let this happen ! Goodbye GOP !

A straight repeal is what weve wanted all along you old turtle fart
Posted on 7/18/17 at 8:39 am to BugAC
This is where it should have started.

It is not going to get repealed. This is what happens with entitlements. They are impossible to take away.
This is correct. This is why Obamacare, IMO, was pretty evil to begin with.
Now the Republicant's are the ones who have to fix it. The same Republicant's who are too afraid to fight anyone not named Trump.
Obama, the Dems, and the MSM knew what they were doing in 2009 when they shoved this abortion down everyone's throats.
What a sick situation.

Well there is that thing called the nuclear option...

I bet it does get repealed. Truth be told, Trump himself could dismantle Obamacare without Congress. Congress was supposed to set up an escrow fund when Obamacare was created so it could be funded, instead it's just been funded through the budget. Eliminate the funding and it will collapse itself.
