But the Dems lowered the bar significantly when it went apoplectic and ruined the political career of a man because he spelled potato wrong.
Yeah, that is the only reason he was laughed out of politics. By the time that rolled around he was pretty much already a laughing stock.

I love this quote:
quote:

Shortly after Bush announced the Space Exploration Initiative, which included a manned landing on Mars, Quayle was asked his thoughts on sending humans to Mars. In his response he made a series of scientifically erroneous statements: "Mars is essentially in the same orbit [as Earth]....Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."

Don't disagree with your comments about Dan Quayle. Not one bit.

But Joe Biden? Seriously?

Enough said.

Hey, Joe Biden is a likeable guy. He loves America. He's the type of guy you can sit down and have a beer with. That's President material not too long ago.

But seriously, the desire of people to whitewash history in a partisan manner just hits a nerve with me. I'll never claim that Joe Biden being considered something less than a genius or his ability to put his foot in his mouth is some sort of right wing media conspiracy. The idea that Quayle was "ruined" by the Dems harping over a single screw up is ridiculous. He was a walking embarrassment from the moment he was nominated... just as bad as Palin.

In retrospect, both Palin and Biden are (arguably) the two worst choices for a Vice President nominee in recent history.

Only one managed to make something of it.

But the other one still is easy on the eye.

Its along the same lines, but I would do another one that says something like "Mary Laundrieu claims to work for her friends and neighbors in Louisiana, but how can she speak for the people of Louisiana when her closest friends and neighbors are in DC?"

The R's have already tried that idea. They ran commercials last time talking about how cozy Mary is in her million-dollar DC mansion. Didn't work then and it won't work now.

They need to run commercials with struggling middle class families trying to pay their soaring premiums and deductibles. That matters to people (and the people who benefit from Obamacare are a lost cause for the GOP, so you want to focus on the people who got screwed.)

I believe Karl Rove's outfit did that a while back but it definitely wouldn't hurt to do it again.

All she has to do is post her tax returns... She paid LA income taxes... She is an LA resident.

Now let's vote her out so this isn't an issue

Landrieu was the deciding vote for Obamacare.
I wish the Republicans would make up their minds on who was the deciding vote. In Oregon, they said Jeff Merkley was. In New Hampshire, they said it was Jeanne Shaheen. In Colorado, they claim it was Mark Udall. Michelle Bachmann said it was Al Franken. In Florida, they claimed it was Bill Nelson. In South Dakota, they claimed it was Tim Johnson. And on and on ...

Anyone see a pattern?

How many of them boasted they were the deciding vote in the previous election cycle?

That should be the answer to your question.

Yes... If anyone of them would not have voted for Obamacare, we would not have it.

Anyone of them could have decided the fate of the bill therefore they were the deciding vote.

It has been 6 long years since 2008. And the 6 years has been much kinder to Biden than Palin.

So the Republicans think that:

It's not OK for a Democratic US Senator to spend the majority of her time in Washington DC; but

It's OK for a Republican Governor to spend most of his time out of the state?

Sorry guys, that ain't going to fly.

On so many levels, wrong. Seriously. You may not like her politics (and her voice does get on the nerves) but she is much more attractive. No questioning that.

The bottom line is you should be required to at least own a residence in Louisiana if you want to represent the people who's voice you say you carry.
