Is anything more necessary for reform in this country?

No, because then the lobbyists will run everything because they'll be the only ones who know how to do anything.

I'd let Reps have 3, Senators have 1, and the President have 1 six yr term - everything being equal...

Lobbyist should be forced to tattoo a Big-L on their foreheads (when they register) for the pubic to ask for whom.

I'd rather Congressman be forced to wear nascar style jackets with patches designating who've they've taken money from from the start of the campaign through the end of their terms.

So you really want nameless unaccountable bureaucrats running the country.....I'll take the crooked politicians before I would accept that.

Please think before you think

And if you have a congressman that really does a great job, what then?

Not for it. If we think Trump's smooth sailing of transition is anything but that, imagine the turmoil and inexperience of transition within Congress? Might be a little more turmoil than we're willing to accept.

Elimination of gerrymandering on both parties would allow a Legislative that is designed in how the US looks like so compromise could be reached.

The biggest problem is you and me. As a whole we tend to send our representatives back each term at a rate of about 90% or more.....we complain about other representatives whether they be Republican or Democrat, but in general we tend to think our guy is OK.

What we ought to do is what the Republicans in Virginia did to Eric Cantor....fire him for doing his job because he was not a bad Congressman .....he did everything his constituents wanted.

No. I want private sector business men, doctors, lawyers, etc... Meeting once or twice a year to discuss major federal issues. Then going back to their day jobs.

Absolutely a must if we want the swamp drained to any degree. One term only for all elected officials from dog catcher to president. Raise the pay of elected officials consummate to other high level CEO's and managers in the private industry so that we can attract bright people into elected office. Work out terms with employers that would allow them to return to their positions once their term in office is complete, (actual government and private industry working together for over all good, maybe we provide some supplement to their salaries for a couple years once they return to private employment), make all elected officials participate in our Social Security and our health care systems. Problems fixed, and we save billions over a couple of years!!!!

I understand your frustration, but you live in a fantasy land if you think that would be effective in any way whatsoever. Nothing would get done. How would things get implemented? Who would be held accountable once that first bunch leaves and it is found that their ideas were less palatable in reality then diarrhea.? Where would the continuity in policy....especially foreign policy come from?

The bureaucrats.....unaccounatable bureaucrats implementing and enforcing policy. Bureaucrats with civil service protection. Civil servants that are unionized....can't be fired and you don't know their names. That is who would be in charge.

Want to make a statement? Whomever your Representative is, vote his but out of office....don't term limit him, because he can do too much damage...fire his arse through an election...I would allow Senators to be appointed by the states again and allow governors to remove them at will.

Nothing sends a message like reudiation and scorn ....that is what being fired is

Newt Gingrich: "A six-year learning curve is just too short. I don't know that I'm all that smart, but as hard as I worked at it, I didn't get it in six years."

And when they frick up or steal you blind...legally....where is the accountability? Their job ended, they were incompetent, but, hey, they are not there anymore. Sucks to be you. But gee thanks for that great salary bump. met some cool people....that Mr Giacomo (real person) at The Palms Steak House is a really cool guy.

Yeah I left a mess made myself rich....will continue to get richer, because I made the law to benefit me in perpetuity but so what? Do you think the next guy who is only going t be here for 4-6 years on a 1 term is going to change the gravy train he's about to get on? No way.

That is what you get with term limits and 1 terms...NO ACCOUNTABILITY...and government run by bureaucracy!!!!!

Like I said, think before you think.....a mind is a terrible thing, and it must be stopped before it really hurts someone
