when i was 12, i moved to texass. where I lived before, they didn't have soda in th elunch room but in texass they did. you know what, no one drank milk, they went and bought a soda (.25/ftw).

Why is Tuba lecturing us about eating a healthier diet? Isn't he a fat man that used to play a tuba. Spidey, put on your running shoes and start burning those calories.

I could eat anything I wanted and NEVER come close to her body fat. Never. If I tried. I burned more calories in 3 sets of tennis that she probably burned all week. If my son wants to eat a popsicle after his lunch, I get to say yes or no - NO ONE else. Playing soccer 4 days a week and martial arts twice a week more than make up for a school snack here or there.
And what the hell gives Michelle Obama or any one else the right to tell my child or me what he can or cannot eat? I pay significantly more in taxes than I receive in benefits, pay completely for our health insurance (and JeauxBleaux's, too) and donate additional time & money to the health and education of others not as fortunate.
Who the hell are you or fatass Michelle to tell me what my child eats? You have. No idea what he eats or drinks at home or what activities he does outside of school - and it's none of your damn business.

This all day long. I have no hatred for Michelle Obama but the bottom line is that my son is fit, active, makes straight As and knows the proper way to eat. He knows these things because I taught him these things. I am his parent not the government.

I agree Grrrrl! I slam 6-7 diet Pepsi/day. But I also swim 3000-3500 sets 5 days/week. So Tuba, you're welcome to do my swim workouts. I promise you'll burn off those calories and save your bum knees.

First off I am not sure this is a great idea to start with. I think stopping companies from marketing junk foods to kids on campus is a good idea but the vending machine thing might be a bit overkill.
But anyway
nothing is stopping you from providing a popcicle for your son. By all means provide him a popcicle! I support your ability to do this.
Are you suggesting you have a right for your son to have access to a vending machine with sugary substances in it? is that it? Isn't this what the right get mad at liberals for? Projecting rights where there are none?
I am not sure this is a great idea BUT, this is not what they are saying. They are saying this is what you can sell on campus, you can still bring food from home.

Actually, schools are telling parents not to have kids bring their own lunches. If the school gets federal funding, the kids have to eat the lunch provided by the school (unless they have a medical reason to bring lunch from home).
