Again...what Republican has come out against her? Or even voiced concerns? That's when you'll know she's toast.

After 2 terms of Barack Obama...the bar on competence is pretty much basement level. She's a figurehead who'll hire wonks to take care of the nuts and bolts.

School Choice (break Union stranglehold) is what she is the face of; and win 25% of the Black vote in Urban Communities for Trump. And turn what is taught back to the Locals. The Libs know it. If they can't indoctrinate the kids...they are toast.

And for the most part, the union power and the extent of school choice largely varies from state to state. So how exactly will she impact that to any great degrees?

I think it's well known that Teacher's Union vote Dem, bv; and that Urban Blacks (generally) perform poorly in Public Schools. For various reason...prime one being PC inability of Schools to dump highly problematic (sociopathic) Students, who prevent other from safely learning. Trump's strategy is to allow Black kids to take their $2100 with them if they want to go to a safe and wholesome (Religious) Charter School. It will work. For all concerned but bad Teachers who Unions protect.

Look I support school choice, as a matter of principle, but I don't think this will be much of a solution to the problem you're describing.

It may help for some, and that's good enough to consider, but the pervasive problems will still persist the systemic issues go well beyond the schools themselves.

Sadly, true, bv. The best we can hope for is to turn it around for the next Generation of kids. A lot are hopelessly lost in the Drug Thug sub-culture. And not only Blacks; it's across the race/class spectrum.

I do think Church-based morality upbringing can make a difference. Nowhere to go but up.

I don't know what experience one should have, but it would be nice to have somebody who understands the basic aspects of the job.

What type of "school" did you attend?

Fine, but if one is in charge with revamping the department, he/she should still have a basic level of knowledge about what that department does. Surely, somebody can share her views, and also show the competence to implement them.

Can you give an example of her poor performance specifically?

She did not seem to know that IDEA was a federal law that all states and those who recieved federal funding must comply with. I mean come on; that's a basic concept, and doesn't require a stance on anything to know that.

She had no answer if charter schools who get fed funding should follow IDEA.

That's basic.

I wonder if this is Trump's way of having a do over without having to admit to a mistake. Trump has his faults but it seems like he does value competence and she has been exposed as having none.

I would like for him to withdraw the nomination and replace her with some white guy who has been running a charter school company and say, "well, you fricked up my affirmative action hire, so here you go!"

Mostly all that is needed in Education is somebody who will make it frick up less, shouldn't be all that hard to do.

Well not knowing federal LAW (not just regulations that can be revamped), isn't a good start.

I understand that she is allegedly oversee the closure or pairing down of the department, but she should have a little understanding about educating children.

I'm neither for or against her conformation. But, that is like saying the president of GM should know how to drive a car in order to do the job.

That is true but all she has to do is say "no more common core" and she's good.

Of course she used to like it.

I am just not all that jazzed about this one one way or the other.

Well his example was poor. In this case, it would be like not knowing the difference between a Chevy and a Buick.
