Yep, pretty sad.
Where was that thread the other day comparing numerous former venues that have gone to shite?
Sochi looks worse than third world.

Everything about the Olympics is shite in the 21st century. It's all a complete boondoggle of graft, corruption, bribery, and power. And the athletes are suspect as hell, too, for cheating due to drugs.
The whole process of rotating the games to different countries is just a ruse for Olympic officials to make money via bribes and for country organizers and developers/builders to make a quick buck from public money.
This is government-supported organized crime and the citizens of the countries that participate in chasing after and hosting the games are the victims.
If you want to make a start at cleaning this shite up, pick two venues (one for the summer games and one for the winter) and then hold the games there every four years. That's it. Greece and Switzerland, for example...
Build great facilities, which can be upgraded every four years, but pick two permanent spots and end the public extortion that is the "awarding of the games."

Every other Olympics should be in the US. We have plenty of cities that could host and wouldn't have to build any new venues.
Either that or I've always thought that the Olympics should be awarded to cities for 2 Olympics. For instance
Tokyo 2020 & 2028
LA 2024 & 2032
That way Rio would at least get two opportunities to use their venues and make their money back.

Should be held in a few cities on a rotation. New York, LA, Denver, Salt Lake, Atlanta, London, Paris, Sydney, Beijing, Chicago
frick that. I don't want it here.
I say make it in Athens full time.

Maybe you should be thankful that they were willing to host the "money pit" that is the Olympics. They sacrificed a shite load of money to give the world a show.

Yeah, that green water in the pools was a first.

Why? Its actually a boon for us. We already have the infrastructure.
We always have to sink billions into infrastructure despite our current facilities.

That's what the IOC is for.

Dude's got quite a cocky smirk on him, considering where he decided to set up shop.

Same with the World Cup. They need to just set a permanent home for both.
It's gotten hard to watch either of those given how corrupt they've both become. The slave labor they're using is Dubai to prepare for the WC is atrocious.

True. Same with the World Cup (probably more so).
