Thank you.

I am not sure if I should tell everyone in this thread that the question and warning of e-mails is fairly common in public service. It feels like I would be telling a bunch of guys in the middle of a circle jerk that the picture is really a guy dressed like a girl. What does the man code say about this?

Sure it is... But is further inquiring as to what electronic communication records would be subject to congressional information request? Specifically because they want to avoid the oversight?

Oh and hard drive poofed 10 days after request of records.

ETA: Obviously nothing to see here, move along.

Stop being so logical. Clearly it was all coincidental.

I think most horses have better sense.

Oh, and the pardon papers are already drawn up. Eric Holder is famous for those, and BO will sign it, along with Holder's, and everyone else who's going to need one, just as he's leaving office.

Sure fairly common. Nothing to see here.

She also asked whether the IRS’s internal messaging system could be searched, in the same email to an IRS colleague. It was sent April 9, 2013, less than two weeks after the IRS inspector general that unearthed the tea party targeting practice shared a draft report with the agency.

Question:
If other employees have been saying stuff through e-mails that you guys assume is evidence of intentional targeting of tea party groups, where are those e-mails she was worried about?

This is a time period well after the computer crash.

Congress has every email she sent or received during this time period. Shouldn't there be something there if this new e-mail is this important?

Its fairly common when hired to be told... "Watch what you put in an email, only use it for work related info, don't seen NSFW or other content"

Not what this was "We're worried Congress may be able to subpoena and search our communications about our activity... be careful what info about the targeting you put into email form as we don't want it searchable by Congressional Subpoena"

We know there were personal MSN email addresses used. Congress needs to subpoena them, those emails aren't lost...

This. I've never seen a fedgov employee communicate or insinuate that people should be careful what they put in email because of potential subpoenas or FOIA

This is not common

No you're right. There's nothing to see here. Just bad luck that Lerner and six of her employees all had computer crashes that rendered their emails unrecoverable and just coincidence that Lerner warned her employees about congressional oversight and emails after learning of the IG's internal report and perfectly normal that Lerner pleaded the fifth and refused to answer any questions regarding any of it. Just another crazy day at the IRS thats all.

THIS. I'd love to see those clowns argue that Microsoft destroyed their servers.
