I'm not sure if you have been under a rock or not but we continually criticize the Rs for being useless POSs.

I've been saying for years that it was a mistake for liberals to believe the "demographics is destiny" line they'd been believing.

For it to be true, they had to assume whites wouldn't change their voting patterns even if Democrats became openly hostile towards them. That was a pretty strange assumption already.

The other false assumption they're making is that even their minority voting patterns will continue unabated.

If they aren't careful, they could easily create a white voting block that looks like the current black voting block while simultaneously watching minority voting blocks become slightly less reliable.

The latter IS destiny because let's be blunt here. The things they have to point to as "outrages" are getting sillier and sillier and yes, rational minorities DO notice that.

If the democrats looked up in 10 years and found themselves STILL dominating the black vote but only getting 80% of it, they wouldn't win another election for 50 years.

Hell. It would almost be nice if they forgot us.

They're openly HOSTILE to us.

Not that I haven't been saying for 30 years that this was the logical conclusion to their rhetoric.

Yes, right now, they do but the trend is moving in the opposite direction.

The Republican base is more passionate right now than ever but it's continually shrinking.

Look at the demographics trend buddy...sinking ship unless it moves closer to the center.

"sinking ship unless it moves closer to the center"

If I had a nickel for every time I heard this I would be a wealthier man.
Oh. And thanks for your genuine concern.

all evidence to the contrary my man, and please spare me the bogus polls........MADAME PRESIDENT!

typical polling includes 24% republicans even though we control 33 governorship's, 31 legislatures, the house, the senate and the white house. in 2016 the republican house received 2 million more votes than house dems.

i guess that's the gerrymandering!

The sign that a given party in any democratic country is in dire need of rethinking what they are doing is when average, middle of the road, people begin saying things like "I didn't leave the Party, the Party left me."

It is most certainly happening to the Democrats right now, just as it has happened to the Republicans and Democrats in the past.

Policies that might be super appealing to folks in California might not sound so thrilling to folks in Iowa, and vice versa. What a party needs to be successful are policies that appeal to the entire country.

If the Democrats start concentrating on the concerns of middle America and making an effort to improve their lives they could reverse all of this in 8 years time.

Unfortunately for them right now they are stuck in the old saying "when you find yourself in a hole... stop digging" and they just can't bring themselves to put down that shovel.

I highly doubt that considering polls continue to show that this next generation coming up (Generation Z) is the most conservative generation since World War II.

Who am I to tell any particular woman that they should or shouldn't have an abortion.
I don't know their particular circumstances and issues around the pregnancy.

With that, pro choice but it doesn't fricking matter because the USSC had set judicial precedent that it's allowable under the law.

Being a white Democrat today makes as much sense as being a black supporter of George Wallace would have made.

Wallace overwhelmingly received the black vote in 1982.

He received over 30% in the primary and over 60% in the general election for Governor.

Trump didn't even get a majority vote...

Not that it matters because he won in the electoral college but don't start throwing around offices that were barely won.

Look at Texas...it's moving to the left.

Judicial precedent can be ignored. See Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education, just to name one instance.

You are lowballing those figures. He won 90% of the black vote in the general election that year.

There is no Democrats party right now. It is a leftist party not resembling anything like the Democrats of even 15 years ago.

This is why I have respect for Jim Webb. While I don't politically align with him, he is an old school democrat that focuses on real issues and he's not some leftist identity politics shrill.

I agree with that stance on abortion. Just make it not be forced on the insurance to cover unless the mothers life is in jeopardy, rape, incest.
