quote:Nah, just execute drunk drivers who kill people, and give repeat DUI convictions severe sentences.
They're doing it anyway. Prohibition is a failure.
But youreright. Let's make everything illegal that can hurt us, limit cars to 25 mph, ban guns from public places, etc and well all be a little safer.
Until such time as reliable ways to prevent them from operating a vehicle.
Life is risky and I'm fine with that.
Eliminating some of the stupid will help chlorinate the General pool too.
If you drink and drive or use drugs and drive you're stupid.

If police had found less than 2.2 pounds - approximately one kilogram - of pot, it would have been considered a possession charge, for which he would have gotten no more than 10 years in prison under Alabama sentencing guidelines.
The guy's an idiot. Know what state you're in and keep below felony limits. 2.2 pounds is a lot of weed, he could have easily skimped on the .2 pounds. Keep it all packaged together.
With that said, I hope we let all non-violent drug offenders out soon.

Sounds like a man of experience. He who knows the rules, wins the game.

As I just pointed out, buying, selling, and using drugs are not automatically victimless crimes.

Sure, you are not deflecting.
You are just switching to another scenario besides the one I gave.

I asked you a question which you dodged. How many places care about your kids when you're spending money. You're acting as if that's exclusive to drug dealers. Sorry you think an analogy is deflecting.

I answered it the way I wanted to answer it.
The kids are innocent victims whether you admit it or not so that means the selling and buying of weed are not automatically always victimless crimes.

Sorry if I think deflecting is deflecting.

Sadly though they get out on the roads and are threats to my family. That won't ever be ok with me.
There are plenty of people who drink and other things that do so in the privacy of their homes and aren't a threat to your family.

maybe that was your point?
Yes.
The poster I replied to implied cocaine was worse than cannabis, I was simply pointing out the irony of the federal drug schedule which implies the opposite.

Link to someone having their property seized for a rolling stop.

The idiot had to have known about the tough sentencing laws in Alabama, yet he kept wheeling and dealing (buns up). He should be in prison for being stupid.

I am not sure this is relevant. There's been seizures for all sorts of "innocent" stops. Not turning on blinker for a lane change, not staying within the lines, having an out of state license plate... Even if he can't find one for a rolling stop there are countless others that are just as marginal.
We both know that countless jurisdictions use this as a way to fund expensive toys without raising taxes.
