Yellowstone is not the only federally owned land in the U.S.

LINK

28 percent of all land is owned by the Federal Govt. Don't you feel really really stupid?

My big worry about libertarian-land is land ownership. What is to prevent one person/company to own vast swaths of land and hold monopoly power over rental fees, etc?

Land is scarce, so you can't really have competition if one corporation owns it all.

These are their three core beliefs:

1) Government should stay out of our daily lives.

Exceptions:
a) Does not apply to anything I (the libertarian) benefit from. All of those things are Constitutional and a function of government.
b) Does not apply to pregnant women.

2) Blacks are racist.

3) frick the poor.

gary johnson was the libertarian nominee for prez ... please link to any racist statement he made ... tia ...

as for the poor, they could start many, many more businesses if the government, at all levels, would get out of the way ... yes or no? ...

As a libertarian-esque person the most frustrating thing is how the Republicans are trying to associate themselves with libertarianism and are redefining what it means.

Firstly they add exceptions that conveniently fit their big government agendas and then claim it means that you should support state and local governments who run rough-shot over your freedoms.

Libertarians put a high value on private property. In fact liberty can be directly linked to ownership. A society which does not respect private property rights cannot be a free society. That's why communist states like the Soviet Union, China and Cuba started with 'land reform'. You cannot own land.

Therefore, govt institutions like the police and the courts are viewed as necessary by libertarians in order to protect private property. This includes things like murder or rape. You own yourself. Therefore violations against your person are actually private property violations.

All other govt intrusions into behavior must pass a litmus test ...'does it protect liberty/property?' If not, the intrusion is wrong.

Example... A libertarian would support laws against drunk driving because a drunk driver can kill you. A libertarian would not support seat belt laws because someone driving without a seat belt cannot kill you.

Same goes with Drug laws and Prostitution. You own yourself. If you wish to harm yourself with drugs or whores that's your right. It does not infringe on the freedom of others.

Hope this helps. Continue studying libertarianism.

Of course no one supporting Jindal can claim to be much of a Libertarian.

Sorry, I was talking about the libertarians that actually matter. The ones that join the Republican party.

There are plenty of places in the world where the government "gets out of the way" of small business. I wouldn't eat the food there if I were you.

You literally pulled this quote out of your arse. India, African nations, etc ALL are still recovering from state planning of the economy. India had no private business until the 90s. Africa, with a few exceptions, is still an authoritarian continent with little free market principle.

Do you really think food would be bad without government?

Man, you literally worship the state. I know you are an employee of it, but it is still crazy.
