That's a alarming level of cluelessness and stupidity. I have to believe that you had an entire TEAM of idiots, nincompoops, and dipshits to assist you with this post . One man could not possibly do all that PostFail on his own.

You really shouldn't mix cocaine with paint thinner before posting.

Under Libertarians you would have an everyman for himself philosophy in which people don't need to auto insurance for example because if someone hits you and causes an accident it's not the government's job to enforce it. You the victim have to take the person to court since it's entirely a civil matter.
Under Libertarians society would collapse since there would be no food safety or banking laws since the market is supposed to take care of it. If you get sick at at a restaurant it's your business and you have to take them to court. If a bank loses all your money and engages in fraudulent practices it's not the government's job since it's a civil matter.
Security would collapse since the police force would be reduced to just handling court matters. You have to hire your own security to guard your property and roads will all be toll roads and you will have to pay for your own snow plows in the winter on roads.
There are no regulations and rules since you are your own entity and you must make people to civil courts when you are harmed. Very few things become actual crimes. Instead of laws against theft and property damage and murder you will have blood money.
Libertarianism will result in a feral society where you are responsible for everything and the job of the state is to operate civil courts since that is the way you have to handle things.
Libertarians do not believe in the state regulating and ensuring a safe society. You have to do it yourself via civil courts and contracts. There is no social contract in Libertarianism.

1. Yellowstone would go for more than a Billion. The real estate would probably fetch 100 Billion.
That is nitpicking my point. I know yellowstone would go for more than a billion. I never implied it would be sold for 1 billion dollars-simply that a group of billionaires could buy it if they want to.
quote:
People who own land take care of it better than people who do not own land (the govt). See renters vis-a-vis home owners. If the richest Arab Sheik in the world bought Yellowstone he would increase it's upkeep.
Agree in a general sense that people take care of their land, but there's absolutely no telling if/how an arab sheik would maintain yellowstone. Also, what is your opinion if he decided he wanted yellowstone all to himself and his friends to party on, and no one else could go there?

Auto insurance is free market. It existed before govt law requiring auto insurance.

Nope. I have a big gun.

Libertarians believe in courts to settle disputes over freedom. If you poison me I can sue you since I own myself.

There are no regulations and rules
Wow. You people really love regulations and rules and you hate freedom.

Mr. Speaker, the Lord's prayer is 66 words. The Gettysburg Address is 286 words. The Declaration of Independence is 1,322 words. U.S. regulations on the sale of cabbage, that is right cabbage, is 27,000 words. Now that is enough to give Hulk Hogan's dictionary a hernia. Check this out. Regulatory red tape in America costs taxpayers $400 billion every year, over $4,000 each year, every year, year in, year out, for every family. Beam me up.
...James Trafficant, Democrat. RIP.

I concede humbly to the brilliance of your argument, for now, I have witnessed true analytical genius. There really is no need to add more to your dissertation.

Why is that bad?

Let's extend your logic. Let's say the Arab Sheik wants to buy North America just so he can have some friends over to party on.
And when he buys North America he is going to evict us and send us to France.
Don't you feel just a little bit stupid?

Have you seen a map of the American West ? Who owns that? Try to take your friends to party out there, see what happens, and report back.

Libertarians are like the Khmer Rouge but on the opposite end of the spectrum. The result would be a killing fields like the Khmer Rouge. They should shoot and kill those who disagree with them and the economy would collapse because in practice their extremist policies would result in a collapse of society and wide scale famine and hunger and violence since they state would cease to exist.
What in the actual frick?

No, I don't feel stupid, but you obviously can't debate without resorting to insults. Furthermore, extending my simple example of selling a relatively small piece of land owned by the Government to the sale of the entire country is ridiculous and illogical. Hell, what if an Arab sheikh wanted to buy the entire solar system? CHECKMATE LIBERTARIANS!!1
Would anyone else like to answer my question without being condescending?

It is entirely possible for a private individual to buy a park and let no one else in, yes. I do not think it would be very likely, however.

Ted Turner owns over two million acres of gorgeous land that you don't have access to. Are you offended?

I did not call you stupid. I asked you if you felt stupid.

The national park lands in the US owned by the govt are far bigger than many nations. Doesn't that make you feel stupid?
Posted on 11/16/14 at 3:53 pm to TheIndulger
I used to be a Libertarian because it seemed to make a lot of sense that not many people thought about. But then I started to think about it practically and some of it just doesn't make sense.
I still believe in many of the general principles, but I'm much more practical about to what extent I take it to heart.

Yellowstone is less than 1/1000 the size of the United States, the country you were referencing the sale of. Don't you feel stupid now?
