It seems the family came out to the media months after the murder. There was a time that they was asked not to speak to the media prior to DWS stepped down.

Their excuse will be to posit a conspiracy theory that Trump/Putin/Assange had him killed and the $20k reward was just a ruse to make it appear that the Clinton inner circle had him silenced.
