right.

One price is the retail price on the street, the other is the price paid to farmers. Not exactly comparable.

I missed that. Farmers in Mexico aren't pulling $300 an oz.

Weed thread, 3 pages max.

Seriously, though, that's a great side effect of legalization that the uninformed opposition will have to come up with another weak argument for..

Exactly. Transportation and avoiding law enforcement can cost quite a bit. But if suddenly law enforcement stops bothering you then you have to either keep charging the same price (after all, the weedheads will pay that much) or expand the market.

Also, I wonder how many of these farmers will switch to opium.

You will see a heroin epidemic in this nation in the next year or so, due to three factors:

A) Legalization of pot (this thread touches on the factors)

B) DEA in Afghanistan helping protect the opium fields for the profits of the warlords who in turn keep the peace

C) Reformulation of synthetic opiates (OXY & ROXY) where addicts can no longer inject it to get high. Heroin will take their place.

Then, the fear mongering from our gov't can come in and try and halt the legalization movement, but it won't happen. Once citizens wake up to the useless propaganda and realize the systemic racism and corruption involved (let alone tax revenues and jobs), the War on Drugs will end.

I think we'll have to see that from the state level ; and as long as Lockeed Martin (sp?) is selling $30,000,000 anti drug equipment to the various states and Feds along with lobbying support....I sadly doubt it

So the few places that legalized it were making up that much of the cartel's market? I have a hard time believing this article.

They haven't yet felt the knockout punch...but as of now, there's a reason for the cartels and prison industry continuing to not push for legalization.

A) There is a heroin epidemic right now
B) Legalization of pot will keep fledgling drug users from coming in contact with illegal drug dealers. I think the leap to heroin will be less likely.

No, you don't gotta f*cking stab her three times! You gotta stab her once, but it's gotta be hard enough to break through her breastplate into her heart, and then once you do that, you press down on the plunger.

One thing I predict we will see a massive backlash over is the Google car, or any self-driving car for that matter. No more speeding tickets and traffic violations. That will hit some budgets hard.

They will find something to replace it with. Maybe lawn length violations? Instead of random car stops or road blocks they will start randomly searching homes in the name of public safety. They always find a way to make us "safe" and charge us for it.
