Las Vegas Victims Sue Slide Fire for Negligence

Who exactly from the Democratic Party keeps advising these people to sue. Wasn't it shameful enough that they pressured the Sandy Hook families into suing only to cause them to have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawyer fees for their frivolous lawsuit.

Starting with a lawsuit filed late last week in Nevada state court, the effort follows similar litigation over mass killings, most notably those of 20 elementary school children and six adults in Newtown, Conn. In most cases, the plaintiffs fail to overcome the law’s high bar for liability, but with the Harvest 91 Festival, where almost 60 died and more than 500 were injured, that pattern may shift.

A dozen bump stocks, which allow a semi-automatic weapon to fire with the speed of an automatic weapon, were found in gunman Stephen Paddock’s 32nd-floor Mandalay Bay Resort hotel room. The complaint, which was filed in Clark County District Court and seeks class action status, alleges that Slide Fire Solutions Inc, a bump stock manufacturer, and other, unidentified makers and retailers behaved negligently in selling and producing these devices.
“This horrific assault did not occur, could not occur, and would not have occurred with a conventional handgun, rifle, or shotgun, of the sort used by law-abiding responsible gun owners for hunting or self-defense,” the complaint states.

Well weren't they legal?

Should be suing the killer's estate. The stocks were legal.

They have a better chance of suing MB for negligence.
Not reporting that one of your guys got shot in the hotel until well after the fact was not a smart move.

You wanna explain their grounds for a lawsuit?

What's the fastest speed limit in America? 85? Most places it's 70?
Can we sue to auto makers for our speedometers and cars capable of exceeding 85 when there is a crash?

Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is absolved of a negligence claim.
I do want to know the theory of the case. It will be interesting to see if they actually have a novel approach or if they are merely shooting for a sympathetic jury who is comfortable with a little jury nullification.
BTW the Sandy Hook plaintiffs were likely not out of pocket anything. It was almost certainly a contingency case and even though some states require the plaintiff to be on the hook for costs attorneys almost never pursue this.

Btw, these lawsuits are why the NRA recommended the government review the decision on bump stocks. If they make it a regulated item, it is protected from lawsuits.

You can't be serious

I hope they lose their arse in this case similar to the Century 21 plaintiffs having their arse handed to them by the judge.
The bump stock manufacturer has nothing to do with this. This sue happy mentality needs to end.
