I certainly don’t agree with shooting the dog. But on top of that putting the story in her book shows incredibly poor judgement. The kind of poor judgment that should eliminate her from consideration.

This. It's like the Texas veterinarian who put pictures of her with a dead house cat she killed with her bow and arrow. The killing of the cat may have been justified, but putting it on social media for the world to see was just plain stupid.

WI law that I posted much earlier. I don't recall seeing the VA law in this thread.
I couldn't find it. Maybe (tee hee) you can repost it.

iirc you're in/spend time in MT? What is the state income tax there?

Yep, we have property in a few states, including Montana. We domicile in Florida, but I think Montana income tax is around 7%.

The northwest part of the state is some of the best land in the country. If you can find something outside of the popular areas, you're set. Our place is west of Kalispell/Whitefish near Ashley Lake.

Interested in northern Idaho which is similar. Avery/Wallace area.

I don't play well with others so have done some very preliminary checking around White Sulfur Springs/Ringling in MT. ie fairly remote but not too far from Helena/Bozeman. Was under the impression the area up around Kalispell had seen a big influx of outsiders like Bozeman. Misinformed?

Yep, we get over that way when we can. Can't go wrong with most of Idaho. Even Boise isn't too bad.

No, they're spreading for sure. Nowhere near as bad as Bozeman. Fortunately, it's still a lot of tourists coming to Glacier or coming to fish the area and I have enough land that even if they do keep coming our way, I'll still have plenty of isolation.

A 14 month old dog is not much beyond puppyhood. She had other options. An animal rescue would have taken the dog, trained it, and placed it in a home where it could have been a cherished pet. She describes it as a part of farm life which is ridiculous. I grew up on a farm with dogs and trained them to herd cattle. Some trained more easily than others but all learned the ropes eventually and were loved and valued members of our family.

Was never gonna be VP. Trump will be forced to select an establishment Republican as his vp.

It’s funny watching people in this thread who defend abortion cry over a dog. If you think killing a dog is bad, and speaks to the character of the person who killed the dog, wait until you examine the character of people who kill innocent babies

I love this narrative.

A 14 month old puppy is clearly the same as a -8 month old fetus that has never breathed air.

And for pro lifers who support Noem killing a puppy, you’re the hypocrite.

So crazy that we have yet another farmer/rancher saying that this isn't common.

He's obviously not doing his farming/ranching correctly.

When I was invovled in mushing I saw this one time. The idiot who shot the dog was ostracized from the racing community.

There are people who think this way, but they are few and far between, and most likely sociopaths.

Oh boy, I laugh when people move from state to state and throw this line out as if they’re not an outsider. I lived in northwest Montana for 7 years and it’s nothing but transplants.

Wtf are you talking about using the word “outsiders” when you’re trying to move to a state you weren’t born in?? Jesus Christ STFU and stop being hypocritical.

If "outsiders" is offensive to you, you're the problem.

Her idea that it would "learn from the older dogs" in the middle of a hunt is...something.
