In this case, it seems as though she had little time in.
Does the punishment fit the crime?

I guess you'd have to have done time in a pediatric burn unit to thoroughly understand the nature of that question. But I'd say 25 years or so would be an appropriate sentence assuming this was a deliberate act.

It's possible that there were profound mitigating circumstances, or extensive mitigation provided, that swayed the judge. Or he's an idiot. It's hard to say with how little information we have.

Somebody mentioned O'Reilly earlier in this thread. Book it, if O sees this...he will hang that rotting albatross right around that Judge's neck on National/prime time TV. That alone, would go a long way toward justice; and would likely result in a ton of pressure to punish the offender.

Anyone who harms a child should have the book thrown at them. The more severe the harm to the child, the stricter the punishment. Shouldn't matter what excuses some try to use because once some lines are crossed, it's tough to even consider getting back to the other side.

I tweeted the link to @oreillyfactor and @nancygracehln.
We should bombard them with this.

Cases like this are why we have standard minimum sentences that the public hates when the judge should have leniency.

Cases like this create an emotional reaction that leads to very bad laws like mandatory minimums.

Appears to be a horrible case.

The solution is to vote out the judge, not make bad overreactive laws.
