Same with Europe and the €1 and €2 coins. Like the metric system, this is one area where the U.S. is stubbornly clinging to an antiquated system.

So over 10 years we'd save a 1.5 billion just by making a fairly insignificant change to our currency, and some of y'all are against this? Are you sure y'all are the fiscal hawks you claim?

Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report for 2011-2012, released Monday, reveals that the abortion and women’s health provider received $542.4 million from taxpayers in government grants and reimbursements — constituting 45 percent of the organization’s revenue.

At that rate, in 10 years, taxpayers could save much more than 1.5 billion. So I take it that you're about 5 times more enthusiastic about cutting that funding. Right?

I'm not against it. Go for it. I just think the optics are bad. I'm pro making my bed, but if my house is on fire the bed can wait

Agree with him 100% as does everybody who has ever traveled internationally.

First thing I've agreed with this cuck on in a while

Same. It's practically worthless in the context of everyday cash transactions.

Also agree. The savings are compelling and let's be honest, most people aren't walking around with too many singles on them these days anyway, but as someone who had to haul 1 and 2 euro coins around for a few years, I can tell you it's a pain in the arse.

Another case of the gov't fixing problems that the gov't caused. We would still need the penny if not for the Federal Reserve and big gov't fricks like John McCain.

We should drop the penny and the nickel and add $1 and $2 coins

I'm kind of indifferent because I don't carry/use much cash. In Stuttgart most local vendors and restaurants, etc didn't take credit or debit cards, so you typically found yourself with at least 4-5EU in coins. I change clinging around in my pock.

Pop quiz. How do strip clubs work in countries in which the small bills are coins?

I'll answer that with a question

Did D&B steal it from them or did they steal it from D&B?

I guess you would have to make it hail instead of rain at the strip club.

It would just give people more incentive to use their debit/credit card for purchases instead of carrying around a bunch of coins.

thats what the goal is, they are trying to move to all card transaction so everything can be counted. taking away feeedom of private commerce. its already happening in europe, i would be interested to see what things are attached to this bill secretly to get passed with it under the guise of something else.

im leary of any legislation john mccain Pushes he alwayvs has ulterior motives.

they will tell you they need to do away with paper money and its to catch criminals because only criminals would want to use untraceable paper money.
but then what happens? you know longer have physical reputation even if the money is fiat.

not saying coins cant be eliminated but this is a step toward eliminating physical cash.

they have eliminated the copper and relevant metals over the last few decades making them worth far less than their counterparts from 50-100 years prior.

the price of making a penny is more than it is worth even with the minuscule amount of copper in it now.
so it is a debt driver that should be removed.
as well as the .99 deception used in retail.

Carry this thought out a little further. Increased use of credit/debit cards would lead to increased profits from transaction fees that occur everytime you swipe your card. Walstreet banks would reap the benefits because they are the ones issuing the cards. This isn't about saving a few billion tax payer dollars, it's about delivering huge profits to your walstreet backers. John McCain can go frick himself. I'd rather have a pocket full of pennies than see him and his cronies profit.

Edit: look up the absurd amounts merchants have to pay per transaction.
