He and other democrats should go to the inauguration.

Trump is a douche. He even said Obama wasn't legitimate until a few months ago. That being said: Lewis is still wrong. "They did it too" doesnt make it right.

Well Obama wasn't even born on US soil and no one has seen all his records as he paid millions to have them sealed. Certainly looks like he was trying to hide something. Maybe something that would make him illegitimate

Agreed. I mean I don't give a shite if anyone shows up to the inauguration aside from the former presidents, congressional leadership, Supreme Court, and military chiefs, but they need to back off the illegitimate thing. Doesn't help anything.

He did a damn good job of hiding it since nobody can prove otherwise. Right?

I disagree. The republicans started this game of the opposing president is absolutely horrible and must be stopped at all costs. The democrats should follow suit.

Do you think it was a slip of the tongue? There is a reason the "icon" was trotted out to say it.

Really? It's like your purposefully forgetting the bush years. Lewis called bush illegitimate as well. News for millenials, history didn't start in 2008. Democrats hAve longed used illegitimate to describe republicans.

Uh it seems altogether deliberate. And Lewis is a Civil Rights icon. The fact that he doesn't seem to do all that much as a lawmaker doesn't change that.

Here's where the Leftists in the USA have taken us:

-- Lewis utters a complete LIE about an illegitimate election and he is defended

-- In response, Trump refers to the filthy, crime-ridden and unlivable conditions in Lewis's own congressional district and Trump is attacked relentless for defending himself by telling the truth.

This is where the Left have taken the USA: Lies are Truth and Truth are Lies. Very Orwellian.

Or another option might be, no one should care what John Lewis thinks or says.

that's fine, but it makes them all hypocrites and absolves the GOP of their rejection of progressive policies the past 8 years. they kind of lose a pretty major chip if they do this

I went and did something stupid and got into a Facebook argument over this. Basically I said that Lewis had every right to say it but people getting butthurt that Trump punched back are total idiots. This person thinks that because Lewis was a civil rights icon that no one is allowed to go after him. It's fricking frustrating.

They will not be missed. They can cry, shite their pants, and pop Midol for 8-years until Trumps son takes over.

Agreed and I mean Trump is the most liberal (socially and fiscally) Repub they could have ever hoped to have so I really don't understand why Dems went all in on the "muh Russians" and illegitimate thing. Makes no sense other than hyper partisanship in the hopes of fundraising

I don't know who "started it" but Bush got a pretty hard time in his first term right up until the country fake united for a few months in the wake of 9/11. Florida recount and all. My schoolmates and a few profs up North made plenty hay about him being "selected and not elected." The GOP went after Clinton like hell, but I don't remember all the illegitimate talk until they thought he'd rendered himself that way by all of his hanky-panky in the Oval Office.
