Instead of saying that the Common Core is intended to replicate the standards of other countries, the website for the Common Core uses language that says the standards are “informed” by or have “consulted” international standards.

As someone who grew up living in different states (Military kid) and now raising military kids...6 states total i can tell you we need a standard system..I spent my HS years sleeping in class because i had alaredy learned in middle school what louisiana was teaching in HS. have lived in states were education was below LA standards those kids suffer as adults..you can travel from louisiana to texas for school and end up being a year behind or ahead..why not use a common set of standards?? for most who are against they have never lived outside the state but more and more kids are living their born states to purse higher education and jobs..lets set up for success

Because that has nothing to do with public / private partnerships, greater research funding, access to cutting edge tools, and large alumni endowments.

7) CC is just the latest cycle of Ed improvements. Follow the money. Gates foundation is heavily invested in the changes. The biggest change for them of course is, computerized testing
Which of course can only be accomplished on a Window 7 or higher OS, which requires billions to be spent on upgrades by states. One of the main reasons Jindal cited today as a reason to get out was the requirement that the tests had to be bought wityhout a bid process. How nice for Bill Gates
Then in a few years or so when those devices are beyond repair. Guess what? Another round of cash in the Microsoft coffers. Which will be just about the time states will began saying, CC produced no better results than NCLB.

Honestly, if the high school drop out/failure rate rises slightly but the college drop out /failure rate drops by the same or more percentage, I would consider that "better results".

They wave the apple, to get you hooked. States cannot afford the computer upgrades, so they will have to accept whatever comes with CC after they buy in. Because of the money.

Jindal is such a phony. Why didn't he do this sooner? Because he had to see the poll numbers first.
