Jimmy Carter: Hillary was unable to connect with white working class

“In the 2016 election alone, the working-class people built the election,” Carter said during a sermon delivered at a church service in Georgia Sunday. “And I kept waiting for Mrs. Clinton to say, ‘I’m for you, white workers, too!'”
But Clinton didn’t express that at all, as Carter lamented in the sermon aired on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Monday.
“But [Clinton] hasn’t talked to them in ages and went after Americans who were Hispanic and women and so forth,” Carter continued. “She never administered to white men.”
If the Democratic Party truly wants to remain relevant and regroup itself, Carter recommended different tactics that would reach beyond identity politics and expand the Democrats’ national appeal.
Just one day after the Democratic National Committee elected former U.S. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez to serve as chair, Carter revealed a piece of advice he had given to the Democratic Establishment darling.
"And so, I told Tom Perez, prior, 'If you are elected chairman, you need to talk to white men too because we vote!'" Carter said. "In Georgia and Montana and in Pennsylvania, the Democrats who voted Democratic voted Republican because they felt neglected."

Almost sounds like Carter voted for Trump.
Maybe he doesn't like snackbars blowing stuff up.

What I think a lot of centrist/moderate Democrats are starting to understand is that, in today's climate, there is no room for us in the Democratic party. Neither Carter or Clinton would be able to secure the Democratic nomination in todays climate. That's how far left the Democratic party has gone. Count me as one that isn't interested in anything they have to say currently. They have lost my vote. Carter gets that.....and so does Bill Clinton!!

Yep, from everything that I've read, Bubba pleaded with Hills and her campaign staff to reach out to the Heartland voters.
And they chose to ignore him and go with "deplorables" and "irredeemables".

It certainly has become that to a large extent. Until the 2016 election though the GOP certainly couldn't care less about working people in this country, white or otherwise. Trump woke up a slumbering giant and labor is up for grabs...if the GOP can get away from the racist bullshite and can get working people other than white makes in their corner the Democrats are done, period.
Labor is the ultimate political prize in the United States due to the way our system works. Everyone is either labor or capital in our system....there is no in between...and there are WAY more of us than them. This is why capital works so hard making us think things like women in skirts pissing in the ladies room is a real issue because it separates us into white labor and black labor and tranny labor and all sorts of small groups where we can be marginalized. For at least the last 37 years until 2016 the GOP has worked this dynamic to perfection and with labor having nowhere else to go the Democrats stopped even paying lip service to labor...Bill Clinton was the Governor of a right to work state for fricks sake and signed NAFTA....If Trump is sincere in his concern for working folks the Democrats are done. And again, I am not talking about organized labor....that will take care of itself in time (and Trump has kick started that no matter what else happens). I am talking about labor in the traditional definition...not capital...
So is Trump sincere and can he drag the capital worshipping GOP along? I think he is completely sincere about this issue...one of the few...but he is a sheep among wolves in his own party on labor issues.....there MIGHT be a handful of Republicans in the entire nation who are not completely vested in making certain that capital always has the upper hand.....and that is going to be a tough thing to change. Meanwhile the Democrats are not in the least bit embarassed to promise labor the moon and more....when they start trying to match Trump promise for promise they will drive the entire nation so far into the camp of labor that capital may well not stand for it and create some sort of situation that will end the movement altogether....all it usually takes is short hours at the mill, massive layoffs and a financial crisis and labor will once again become the lapdog of capital for some scraps from the lord and masters table....interesting times

Dear Jimmy, the DNC abandoned white working class voters more than 20 years ago.

Even Biden said as much during the Democratic Convention. Such a horrible move on the Democrats
