Nope

Unless he changes his party affiliation to the GOP, he needs to rot on the vine like the rest of the Democrats.

That's a great mindset to have....

However, I think the GOP should make it a major priority to flip centrist Democrats like Webb. Especially looking ahead to 2020, it would help maintain/solidify the coalition that put Trump into office.

I know Trumpkins don't want to hear this but Webb would have beat Trump.

The Dems just had to let it be her turn.

I'm holding onto hope that Jim Webb is offered a place in this administration and that he accepts it.

It's not just poor white people. I'd say white people who don't hate themselves think democrats hate them.

I think I may have seen that segment. Absolutely insane.

I think it would be a great move by Trump. Webb is 100x more qualified than some of the other names that have been tossed around.

Those who hate themselves know democrats hate them too, they just agree with them on the reasons why.

poor, middle or rich whites....

Honestly, how can any "person of whiteness" not pick up on the clear and omnipotent attack on the skin color white? The tolerant left is LITERALLY discriminating based solely on ----- SKIN COLOR ----- and yet miraculously this is just ---- accepted ---- in our society.

Whites that feel the discrimination are racists, and whites that feel it is justified are cucks.....WTF guys.... talk about damned if you do or damned if you don't........ but all whites (who actually pay attention to current affairs) have got to realize that we are being negatively stigmatized by the pigmentation (or lack of) our skin...... something that is just so appalling to all good people of this world...

I will admit that WITHOUT QUESTION - my views on the races and racism have changed dramatically over the last few years. I am not a racist, but I am certainly now prejudiced. You keep telling me every day how evil I am, how bad my people's history is, how I have a subconscious bias I cannot control, and just basically I suck for being white --- and guess what... frick you, fine I will embrace it. What choice do I have anyways?

Mind you, I was at one point an indoctrinated youth that I now despise. Growing up my best friend was black. I had numerous fights for being called a N** lover. I spent a lot of time trying to explain to family, friends and relatives how you can be pro-black without being anti-white. I went and saw Malcom X in the broadmoore theater by myself...as a white teen....(not smart btw, still have the scar to prove it....)

I was the original wanna be Bernie Sanders fricktard while they were still just an itch in their daddy's nutsacks.

And yet, here I am today. A wealthy white man. I am literally public enemy number 1 ...it seems. I'm tired of being guilty of being white. I'm tired of having my success be discredited based on my skin color, despite the fact that I am far more successful than basically all people of any skin color. I am pissed off that my children will have to grow up hearing about their "white privilege" .... why?? because daddy worked his arse off -- that is why. Not because they are white. I came from a lower middle class home. I could not have the girbaud jeans or polo shirts. I had Izod. (I hear izod is cool these days, but in my day, it basically meant you were a poor.) I flipped the script...why? for my children... for my family. I thought that was the entire point of it all? To provide a better life for your children then you had..

So I have actually been lucky enough to do that..... and now they will be chastised for it?

frick you snowflake society

/rant off.

PS. 18 year old democrat -- but not for a long time now... you know, it changed right around then time I actually grew up.

Jim Webb is a old school blue color Democrat. I really like him a lot.

I think it would be a really savvy move for Trump to reach out to Webb and find him a spot in the cabinet. IMO, that's the very definition of getting "the best people" and it would take away an asset that the Democrats seemingly don't care for.

Remember how Bear Bryant would offer players to keep them from going to other schools? This would be like that and leave the Dems to double down on their privilege checking playbook.

Sounds like my father in law. Romney was the first republican he had ever voted for.

Webb will never be accepted by what the current Democratic party has become. He'd have got the shite kicked out of him by any of the Republicans because the liberal freak show would've stayed home.

Probably not. Would minorities and coastal leftists support Webb? I'd highly doubt it

This was the first election I can remember he didn't support a democrat. To borrow Trump's line, "That's hyuuge." The democrat party has shifted too far to the left. It's no longer about hard working people trying to do right for their family. It's been usurped by rich, ivory tower liberals that have nothing in common with people that built this country.

You described my dad also

Ha, that's exactly what I was thinking of. It's a perfect analogy. Well done.

With the Democrats looking to double down on the Bernie Sanders-contingent, now is the time to really make a play for the blue-collar Democrats. Lock up the Rust Belt for a generation. So many blue collar Democrats are actually conservative leaning people, they've just been told for decades that they are supposed to be Democrats.

If the Democrats don't want Webb or Joe Manchin, then the GOP should welcome them with open arms.

I think we are seeing a new party form quickly, and it is not the Libertarian party. The right Dems, and left Pubs seem to be migrating together, and it will be interesting to see which established party jumps on them. IMO, this is deeper than race. It always falls back to the rich elite in the NE, and the rest of us. The rest of us seem to be organizing.
