This is a fundamental weakening of the Russia-Iran-Syria triumvirate.
10/7 was in the works for awhile. Only thing I can think of is Iran didn’t tell Russia about it. Putin is savvy enough to anticipate this blowback. He either knew about it and didn’t anticipate the Western backbone in Ukraine, or he didn’t know about it and didn’t think he’d be called upon to arm and prop the Iranians when this inevitably happened.
