I know so many people today believe very little of the news that is broadcast by the MSM . The government has a serious integrity problem and there's no need going through that laundry list, y'all know it's a long one.

This is a real problem. When the citizenry loses faith in their "free press" and government, bad things tend to follow.

Maybe if some politicians and federal officials were actually indicted/charged and sent to prison the integrity, honor, and righteous character of the USA could be rebuilt over time.

I'm not sure about the MSM. Maybe if MSM witnessed shite hitting the fan in DC they would get the damn message.

I travel the world for my business.

You guys should see the hellholes many countries are.

I just don't get the "America Sucks" talk that is so hip nowadays.

And if anyone says "well, it's because we cannot get good jobs" you should watch this report.

American companies would love to hire Americans. But too many are drug addicts so they hire Syrian refugees for very well paying jobs.

For some things to be 'fixed' BT...the problem ones have to go away. The 'going away' can be ugly, if the people who are the problem think they are the solution. And their belief is rooted in morality.

We are walking a slippery slope and there is no right answer. The moment news started taking sides was a sad day for America because we all lose. Discrediting all news except those that don't toe your party line is just as dangerous as stations reporting on feelings or the thoughts of their investors.

Some type of meaningful legislation is needed but who's going to draft something that changes their propaganda game.

That was no later than 1965 but I cannot remember any further back. They were just better at hiding it.

I believe an easing of standards afflicts all societies over time, eventually leading to their demise.

The OP is looking for comments on whether the US government and MSM can regain good standing with the citizenry.
Are you saying the MSM and US government are bursting with honor, integrity and good character?
I don't think America sucks but if we don't make some serious changes in the DC (term limits and lobby reform) and with the MSM we're in trouble! Jobs are not the pressing problem, it's career politicians and life long government appointees that need to be purged on occasion. Also an MSM the self identifies as 90% democrat.

The Congress needs to pass strict mandatory 2 term limits for both houses as well as massive Lobbyist reform laws. Either Outlaw lobbying or force politicians to wear clear badges from each Lobbyist. That's a start.

I had a glimpse of the nightly news and was not disappointed that it remains the same. Called out the President with 'wiretapping with no evidence' but without hesitation gave full credence to Susan Rice because Rice said so.

I happened to get home early today (5:30 pm) and watched Lester Holt. I never watch the evening news or any other news on TV. I read my news from a variety of sights.

It was like watching "opposite" news. I was amazed at how dishonest it was.

I do not know how we can trust MSM again.

Their beliefs are rooted in POWER! When you drill down to the truth of "big time politics" there is no morality, it gets in the way of moving forward in their career as a politician.

Our government currently sucks. And it's getting worse. It's over bloated, over funded, under regulated, nontransparent, and unsustainable.

Just because our country is better than most doesn't mean we should never evaluate ourselves. Empires and powers have crumbled before and they'll crumble again.

Cut it back down to the basics and have constitutional law with a trimmed down bill of rights. Let the states govern.

No. That is why President Trump is going to drain the Swamp and destroy the MSM at the same time.

The MSM took Trump's wiretapping tweet literally. Anyone who knows where communications are today on a technical level understands that a actual analog telephone line is a rare bird today. It's nearly all IP packets folks, the surveillance is much more sophisticated than tapping a fricking phone line.

So Trump's old school and says wiretapping, seems reasonable for a 72 yr old man to say wiretapping rather than "Obammy's people captured the IP packets on the SIP trunk lines in Trump Tower and listened to our conversations".

Unfortunately those you have no faith in are drafting laws that can impact you daily.
