Is the Progressive left a cult?

So, I have done some thinking and mulling over this epic and utter breakdown of the left's psyche for the past 78 days.
I've had a weird feeling about it. There is just something so eerie about it all. I don't ever remember seeing such an enormous amount of people going completely mad.
2 things have struck out to me:
1) FB liberal friends that you may have known for a while will get shut up if you use their own logic against them. Then shortly afterwards, some feminist in fricking San Francisco will start attacking you for having a political discussion with your old friend.
It's even weirder because somehow you didn't know your friend had a feminist friend in San Fran. It was as if, you were making a point and making sense and possibly heading to a breakthrough and then they sweep them away in a surreal mess to keep them indoctrinated in their religion of victimhood.
2) Looked at a clip from the Transformer dude. He had the children of the corn Malichi people all chanting over and over again the same thing enmasse. Again, struck me as not just odd if you haven't seen the video you can look at it Here And it goes on for the whole time.
Again, it is definitely different in many ways; but I'm starting to believe that these are the zombies they've been telling us about.

every one just regurgitates each others opinions, shits on liberals with thin arguments, and radicalizes alt-right politics while blaming all problems on blacks, immigrants, or Obama (But wondering why they're constantly called racist) would probably sacrifice their families to knee before trump and spew out CUCK MELT BITCH or whatever other memes go forth when they have nothing else to say.

People with college educations who can actually articulate their opinions are the cult.
I've actually seen massively upvoted post shitting on Neil Degrasse Tyson and Bill Nye because they're politically left in nature and agree with science.

What I find strange is their inability to conceive of something occurring, charity or arts/culture for example, if the government stops paying for it. Like if you propose the fed eliminate welfare that you hate poor people and charity. It's ridiculous but they cannot conceive of a world where private citizens are responsible for their own choice.

I brought up two instances of behavior, that to me, would concern me if my child were associating with a radicalized group of people like this.
I specifically gave two behaviors I've noticed that seem "cult-like."

LSU's own Eric Voegelin (LSU Prof Sandoz's mentor)--refugee from Nazi Germany--wrote extensively on this (as have many others).
A lot of his writing isn't particularly accessible, but The New Science of Politics is, and it used to be required reading at LSU. I recommend it, if you haven't read.

To me is it real clear why this occurs:
I have friends with late 20 and 30+ year olds living in their homes and buying them NEW CARS, not just a car a NEW CAR.
So these adult infants want the big Tit all the time
