Threatening Texas they they'll take future events from Texas b/c of transgender bathroom law.

Didn't the people help build NBA arenas in each state with their tax dollars?

Is the NBA forcing their ideology on states' rights?

LINK

quote:

The NBA has warned that Texas could be overlooked for future events because of a proposed "bathroom bill" targeting transgender people. The Texas legislation is similar to a North Carolina law that prompted the league to move the All-Star Game out of that state. Texas' proposed law would require people to use bathrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificate. NBA spokesman Mike Bass said an environment where people are treated "fairly and equally" weighs heavily in deciding host locations. The NBA first made the statement last week, and the NFL has issued similar warnings.

Mark Cuban would be perfectly happy if the NBA did that (which might be the first time he and NBA leadership ever agreed on anything).

Peter Holt (Spurs owner), though, not so much (he's a big GOP supporter and was nominated by Governor Perry to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission).

I don't get why the people can't vote on their own will and the NBA respects it.

The NBA wants a team in Mexico City for fricks sake. They'll also more than willingly play in China, what about those human rights cases in China, huh? Why aren't they threatening them?

Its time the NBA shuts the frick up. Im done until further notice.

Yes they should be allowed to say stupid shite & take their business anywhere they want. Just like Texas has the right to tell them to STFU. Hopefully they do

What "future events" can they pull from Texas? The All-Star game? Who cares?

This is nothing new. Pro teams have threatened cities and states for years threatening to move out of a particular city.

Usually it works and the pro team gets their new arena or stadium.

The NFL and the other leagues are so arrogant because they normally get their way.

Screw em

I went to a Hornets-Nuggets game in 2012. That's the last basketball game I watched.

What are you talking about? Did someone say the NBA shouldn't be able to do this?

I would hope that they take their teams in The Great State of Texas with them to wherever they would like to award those withheld events.... :
To the NBA...

The NBA may try to pull events, but as long as Texas doesn't have state income taxes, players are still going to want to play and live in Texas.
