One thing that seems to be overlooked: political parties spend billions on presidential campaigns. They do everything from polls, to oppo research, millions of travel miles, speeches, commercials, etc.
Who knew all you have to do is a little phishing and fake news and boom! We the president.

Nobody genuinely believes the Russians literally hacked the results (well, almost nobody).

I'm not sure why, the same evidence that indicates Russia tried to influence the election also shows they had no means of actually effecting vote tallies.
