Both parties are a dumpster fire.

Republicans are a household trash can where the Dems are a legit industrial dumpster.

Just because you don't know of a hypothetical candidate does not mean one does not exist. If parties fail to address the desires of their constituents, they tend to start facing challenges sooner or later. Civil Asset Forfeiture prior to conviction is so completely out of line with traditional notions of justice that it is completely indefensible and incompatible with our Constitution. The fact that its usage is more or less enabled by the War on Drugs makes the War on Drugs suspect. When dangerously addicted substances like opioids and speed are treated less strictly than less addictive substances like marijuana (the most commonly used illicit substance which is also legal in several states), it makes the War on Drugs seem even less defensible.

If you want to shield the GOP from criticism due to their support for these initiatives, go ahead. I just ask that you do so with a defense of the merit to these programs rather than simply insulting those who dare question them and ridiculing them with "well, who else are you gonna vote for?" At that point, you're no different than some a-hole cable company which was granted a regional monopoly as a utility and routinely jacks up rates while offering increasingly lower quality service. Where where else are their customers gonna go? They're the only game in town.

The customers find a way. The market always finds a way. Freedom always finds a way. It may not exist today or even tomorrow, but some day it will, and those spitting in the eyes of the defenders of liberty will get their comeuppance.

I never tried to shield anyone from criticism.

I have plenty of issues with republicans. I'm not naive enough o believe that some magical 3rd party is going to swoop in and make everything right.

I understand that we have to work within the system to force change. That change will always come slow. That's one of the safeguards in our system that makes it far less prone to knee jerk wild swings in policy and political climate.

Civil Asset Forfeiture absent conviction
Forcing individuals to sue the state to get their seized assets returned after charges have been dismissed
Pressuring banks not to offer services to legally licensed marijuana-based businesses in states where it is legal.
Domestic spying on everyone at every time.
Targeting individuals for prosecution and audits based on political beliefs.
Authorizing ISP's to sell customer's browser history without their consent.

Who is "we" and what is the "system?"

I'm wondering why you think there is a hangup with change.

We the people....

I don't think there is a hangup. I think change comes slowly because of the nature of our bicameral legislature and the reality that we have a two party system.

There has been plenty of change over the years.

Indeed.

It has to start somewhere.

You think the wheels turn slow on the hill now, just add a third party into the mix.

GOP keep the neo nazis from winning seats in state and federal offices. As noted ad nauseum, a large number are owned by the wto due to advertising costs and future "employment". Here is a horror story. The us trade negotiator v japan under ford, got a job paying 1 million. She had allowed japan to sell usa small trucks without passenger safety. You right wingers tire of senator from jp morgan, you will get money out of election campaigns.
Heres how. I did a thread on this years ago. You have all carriers provide public service bandwidth. John q public would look at channel 123 and it would be filled with directions to who all is speaking next. They all get free air. The next step would be widgets for websites. Moving target.

We essentially already have that. We just need to work on getting them to be honest about it.

Stop voting for Republicans. Start voting for third party and libertarians. Stop allowing the fear of Democrats to paralyze progress. There isn't enough functional difference to justify the angst. They are both fricking terrible

I deeply want to vote third party and almost did.

Till I met Gary Johnson.

And turn the Reins over to who...Hillary? Bernie? Barack 2.0? Reid and Pelosi again?

We are going to Omaha with a Pitching Staff that faces a hard challenge on Saturday and Sunday night. It's what we've got. Same with the Republicans; far from ideal.

Yep.

There is a recongnizable split in the Republican party. Surely I don't need to point that out.

I'd say there's a three to four way split in Republican Party.

Democrats are dealing with one split and the side I like and could vote for are dropping like flies.

That's silly. They vote down Republican party lines. They raise funds through the Republican party etc etc. Just because there is a subsection within the party doesn't make it an autonomous 3rd party. It's like saying Bernies socialists are a 4th party instead of a movment within the DNC.

Surely I don't need to go on...
