1)Eliminate all but the most basic of foreign aid

2)Bring home all military personnel stationed abroad with the exception of those stationed on established U.S. military bases. Put them on OUR borders where they can really bolster our national security.

Government is not going to reduce spending till it runs out of money . To reduce the deficit you would have to get a republican super majority with out any rhinos .

Let's add reducing pay of congress to the average income of their constituents.

The govt will never run out of money when they have the ability to simply print more.

Spend less?

Stop giving free money to the largest corporations in the world?

Build bridges not walls?

Hire Scottish bankers to work the Treasury?

I'm all for destroying govt. But to reduce the deficit all you'd have to do is FREEZE budgets. Nobody gets any more money next year. Growth would gradually solve deficits but the media would parade all of the starving children on TV every day.
They would define a 'freeze' as 'drastic cutting'.

GO back to the 2007 or 2008 budget that was pre “one time stimulus.” As soon as the stimulus was passed Harry Reid and Nancy passed a continuing resolution on the budget, with the help of the Republican Party as well. The stimulus was then part of the budget forever.

Go back to pre stimulus levels, give a 2%/yr increase and then cut everything else.

Huh?
When you take legal deductions on your taxes, do you think of it in the context of the government giving you money or the government taking less of your money?

We'd be running a massive surplus at this point. But... we couldn't possibly live with a government like that today. There were millions dead in the streets. People starving.

Neither, deductions are to encourage certain desires. As example...

Government gives you depreciation so you have money to repair and replace things that wear down, break, or become obsolete. If you pocket that money instead you should get much less when you sell.

I am not talking about deductions, I am talking about earmarks and other pork the government puts in spending bills (both D and R) that drain the taxpayers dollar to give charity to those who do not need it.

Just to put some numbers to this... Democrats call GWB the deficit spender. The 2007 budget was $2.73T. ($160B deficit ) 2019 tax receipts are projected at $3.44 T.

Democrat analysis: taxes are too low!

Earmarks are about $15.3 billion in FY19. A whopping 0.34% of the budget.
