... he would have put his company in a blind trust.

He can't run the country and a company at the same time, and it would be the height of naïveté to think he's not on the phone every day with Don jr and Eric trying to influence deals bts.

It's obvious to the objective eye that the President doesn't give a damn about anything but his legacy. If he truly loved this country, he would make that sacrifice.

Did you say "blind" and trust? I know what blind trust is for sure. It is called 'stupidity'.

Other than that I get your point. He should put his blind trust in a blind trust to protect his billion dollar corporate business which he runs better than any of them would.

You don't think he knows how to run his business like you know how to do whatever it is you are good at doing since you were a teen?? Man isn't spending countless hours here pondering his business dealings lol.

He's not, rather naive to think otherwise.

The eye you share with others must be suffering from some sort of retinal detachment.

I reject the premise that not putting his company in a blind trust is equivalent to not giving a damn about America. Why does one preclude the other?

He has no connection to his company in any way. Didn't you see the press conference with the mountain of paper on the table? What more do you want?

Legacy?

He's been POTUS for 6 weeks.

Jesus, some of you people are stupid.

Well that's not realistically true with his family running it. I don't have a problem with that whatsoever, but he still has an interest in its success, as he should. But let's not pretend he doesn't.

Absolutely agreed. I do not understand how this necessitates that he would be unable to make decisions for the greater benefit of the country, though. He certainly can do this, but I haven't seen much evidence of this, but by its nature, real estate value is going to be tied to a country's relative prosperity.

Well I think his overall history shows he's quite self-centered, but there par for the course in politics.

And I agree that 6 weeks is not near enough time to evaluate the long-term, but people were basically proclaiming that legacy was set just the other night because of his well-received speech.

Of course, both arguments ignore the infancy of his administration, and our short attention span.

He could sell his business interest and use the proceeds to create a family charitable foundation. His family members could be the directors and run all their personal expenses through the foundation. Even more money could be raised by the charity by taking donations from corporations and foreign governments, since it will be his family and not him running the foundation there will be no chance of him selling the influence of his office.

I agree that those interests do not have to be opposed. But in regards to real estate, while it undoubtedly relates to the prosperity of our country, policies that prop it up, don't always have that positive of an impact. For example, his opposition to Reagan Tax Cuts so that the government could coerce real estate investment would have been an example of that. Hopefully he doesn't advocate for those types of polices.
