If POTUS was going to renege on a campaign promise, this was the best we could hope for

First off, Trump can frick himself if he thinks that staying in that shithole is a good idea and frick any attempt to do so. He should be embarrassed for himself.

With that said, 4,000 troops isn't worth diddly shite and isn't going to do diddly shite and isn't going to change anything at all.

Everybody knows this. Every military guy in that building knows this. Every neocon and democrat in Congress knows this.

This is just essentially a continuation of the status quo in Afghanistan to keep things in neutral and something a lot of people can live with on both sides whether it be neocons, the MIC, and anti war people like myself and Rand Paul.

This is not a good situation at all but it's something we can reasonably tolerate. I was defintely encouraged by Trump's rebukes against nation/democracy building and regime change but its on us to make sure he keeps that point of view front and center in foreign policy.
