So basing your tax on how much you purchased is too?

You can tell he has no concept of economics whatsoever by just one post. That's a pretty big achievement.

If people are upset with what California is doing basing consumer electrical cost on the consumers "worth" to an employer, why are they not upset with real estate "worth" being used to determine tax cost.

A family of 11 live in a 3 bedroom home. The kids are still in school and the father is un-employed. Their home is worth $250,000 and they pay $3,000 in RE taxes.

A family of 2 live in a 3 bedroom home, both retired with a home value of $400,000. They pay $4800 in RE taxes.

Which family is costing the county or "parish" more? I mean, taxes are to pay for gooooooooooooooooooooberment services, aren't they?

Property taxes are the worst.

Taxing property at some arbitrary value is a horrible practice that needs to die a quick death

I feel your pain.

But if WE had a say, it might be different.
I paid the school tax even though my kids were homeschooled.
THEY wanted my money.
I still pay tax to keep a sorry, thieving hospital that I refuse to go to afloat.
THEY still want my money.

But it's not communism.

Yep, hence the very first word of the OP "If".

It is definitely a very unfair tax and gooooooooooooooberment employees will protect it even as their pensions run dry. Hence, I feel the electrical cost plan in California is quite "unfair" as well.
