In what’s believed to be a universal first, Iceland has announced measures that will require employers to prove that they offer equal pay regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality or nationality, the Associated Press reported.

Iceland’s government made the unprecedented announcement on International Women’s Day on Wednesday. The legislation will affect employers with more than 25 employees and will eliminate the gender pay gap, which in Iceland is 14 to 18 percent, by 2022.

It will be presented to Iceland’s Parliament this month for signing.

Iceland? So how many businesses in Iceland has over 25 employees? Two or three? What is mass produced in Iceland that we don't know about that requires 25 plus employees?

I guarantee the gender pay gap in Iceland is close to zero.

We should offer Icelandic entrepreneurs and investors the opportunity to come here, gain citizenship, and start a business with no taxes for the first two years just to send their economy into the toilet.

In what jobs are women paid less than men? I want the figures. In what job do women make less per hour than hour?

That's ridiculous. Obviously a man deserves more in Iceland because he's a more efficient and stronger seal clubber on average

How do you prove equal pay?

You can't just say two people with the same title deserve the same pay. There has to be other criteria, which if it's a law, means the government will be deciding this criteria, which I would absolutely not want happening.

Here's one that I know of.

Einstok Beer

Their logo is pretty cool. Is it a white dude with appropriated dread locks though?

Doctor makes $400k/yr.

Nurse makes $100k/yr.

Can't you see the pay gap?

Lol...this is true. But, still, this issue is absurd. Men make more for working more hours. They allow themselves better opportunities to move up in their field. They also take less time off for FMLA and other maternal matters. Of which, many of those European countries now require men to use FMLA as opposed to women to reduce the pay gap.

Ok then, since we're all about gender equality, when will my car insurance rates be as low as that of a female my age with a comparable driving history to mine?

If you're single, your rate will adjust down at age 30. According to what State Farm told me 20 years ago, the reason for the higher rate for you, in laymen's terminology, is because you are single and their studies show you will be driving more because you chase pussy and don't stay home.

I told the insurance lady, hell I work with married guys that chase pussy moreso than single men. She said "we did not do a study on that".

I was told my insurance would go down at 25. It didn't. I was told it would go down at 30. It didn't.

It is only sexist if the male benefits from the discrepancy.

Iceland is an important country to watch. In the big financial crises Iceland actually arrested bankers instead of giving them money
