Hitchens would even bristle at it. His value was in being a provocateur, although his writing could transcend what was expected for journalism. it's a shame people are mostly familiar with his pugnacious side (which came on later in life). His earlier literary and culture work for Vanity Fair was really terrific. He covered an incredible spectrum of topics.

Describe them any way you like. They are opinions. Period. The fact that the majority of them were pulled from forums including Reddit is laughable.
