i think he was handed a bad deck, bought into his hype initially about being some kind of force for change, and lacks the leadership to enact change
he's surrounded himself by peers who engage in groupthink and are more concerned with the ends rather than the means. this leads to a lot of frickery, which has gotten his administration into a lot of heat. i think he's a delegator who has picked a lot of people who were not capable of doing their jobs (especially with the anticipated goals) well, because he picked them for reasons other than ability
i don't think he's a bad person and i don't think he's evil. i think he did want to change things, but he wasn't the type of person that could lead an admin and congress to follow through. he also bought into the hype of his liberal talking points, but couldn't follow through and reality (especially in foreign policy) has hit him hard in the face.
also, he had to rely on some straight up evil people to get elected, and they infect his admin with pure statist bullshite

Reasonable theory, but i think he's just another no-talent arse-clown celebrity that got famous for being famous and never really accomplished anything. (think reality shows, Kardashians, Paris Hilton, etc)

I figured him out the moment that I watched his pastor of 20 yrs preach. He is a racist POS who hates traditional America. And that's the best thing that I can say about him. I'd love to say it to him!
