So I ask you guys...to point me to them...because while I recognize that my mom probably doesn't have as long on earth as I would like. I would like to make sure she can have every day as long as possible.

Experimental drug trials. try and get her in them...however, Obamacare has made entrance into them exceedingly difficult.

My thoughts are with you and your mother. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I understand what you are going through. I say I understand because my mom is battling cancer too. She has breast cancer and it has spread into her bones, brain, lungs and liver. It was first discovered over a decade ago and it reappeared in her lung 2.5 years ago. We thought she had beat it the first time but I guess not. I'm going to spend the weekend with her. I don't think she has much time left.

Sorry to hear that Gumbo. Make her one of those amazing recipes you have shared with us all. You are both in my thoughts.

Prayers for you Gumbo, sounds eerily like my mom's story sadly her reoccurance was 33 years later. Good luck to you and your mother Gumbo.

And to the person who said that his mothers dementia home is costing 4k/month, that is a very obscene injustice

That's we paid in Houston. He was beyond gone and couldn't speak. Only lived about 5 months in there.

You hit the nail on the head concerning family time, I was fortunate that my mom's last few years she lived in her dream home a couple of blocks away from me, got to spend a ton of time with her.

You've got to be careful with this. I lost my cousin last year to cancer, and once she entered an experimental trial, her options for regular treatments got very reduced. Just do your research.

And Rob, my prayers are with you.

Damn, that is rough dude. Sorry to hear it.

We have some Egyptians in town and they are in a similar situation. One of the guys has a certain type of Hepatitis and the drugs that are being prescribed to him to keep him alive are 90k/year. Yes, 90k.

Miracles do happen man so keep your head up. Hope your mom is at peace and not scared of what lies ahead

Dammit I hate this disease. My cousin was 29 years old. Thats too damn early to say goodbye to someone. She was my closest cousin to my age, so we spent a lot of time together growing up. There are very few days that pass where I don't think about her.

I just want to say again Rob, I'm so sorry about this. I hope and pray you will find strength you never knew you were capable of having that will help you get through this.

Does her insurance have an annual max out of pocket per year? I have infusions every 8 weeks that cost $11k. My max out of pocket is around $3k a year. Once I pay that amount I am covered for the rest of the year.
