It is becoming evermore clear to me, that getting things done for the American people and talking about things that actually impact the lives of everyday Americans, is no longer the goal of 95% of those in Washington. The business on Capitol Hill is now to conduct gigantic smear campaigns.

President Trump could be cleared in every issue, investigation, and scandal that has or possibly could come forward, and the next day the media cycle will be flooded with some new "scandal", call for investigation, or piece of paper that has been found. Sometimes Trump isn't careful and gets himself into some of these things, I concede that, but it seems like most people on Capitol Hill spend the majority of their time digging and throwing everything that they can at the wall, and just hoping it sticks. I hear few calls from prominent politicians for us to move on to the issues that actually impact me and you. It's just on to the next thing we can find to try to turn into a scandal.

Gone are the days where anyone up there wants to have discussion about the major issues that need to be addressed for the American people. I mean real discussion, not standing in front of cameras and microphones or getting on Twitter to smear the other side, but actual people sitting down in offices and spending hours trying to hammer out plans for these issues.

For the rest of this Presidency, these investigation into Trump, Russia, Flynn, Comey, etc. stories will probably dominate. The media loves it, it's a sexy headline, and it helps the narrative/agenda that most in the media have. Trump the Outisider crashed the DC party, and most of the politicians will do anything to get him away quickly.

We can't truly address issues, get out and talk to regular people, and have true debate. All we can have is this crap.

End rant.

This was the goal all along.

Vote against all your Congressional incumbents.

If POTUS would stop doing stupid shite every day then maybe the noise is lessened.

Even if he did nothing to dig himself into a whole, there would still be an endless stream of accusations and "stories" being thrown at the wall in the hopes that one sticks.

Amazing, there really is healthy contingent of people who think Trump can literally do wrong. Its always someone else's fault or some big conspiracy.

I don't think it's everyone else's fault. Trump's been stepping in his own shite for a while now, independent of outside forces.

There's an even bigger contingent who think Trump can do no right.

Hole.

But I didn't say otherwise. Both aisles have agendas. And it sucks. I'm just saying, why help them?

Not what I said, I even said in my post that Trump has caused himself problems. My point is that, no matter what, most of Washington is focused on conducting smear campaigns and not actually getting important things done.

That is true, and I think he needs to do a better job of not providing them with additional ammo.

Most of his ideas sucked anyways. Win for the American people.

He has a republican house and senate. It's on him to rally the troops. His abrasiveness has not served him well.

Is Washington Congress or media here?

Media hates Trump.

Congress has been inept for 25+ years.

The premise of your OP was that even if Trump hadn't caused himself problems, the media would create them for him. You're incapable of accepting that these are all self-inflicted wounds.

Sad!

I consider placing conservative justices on SCOTUS meaningful.

That seems like such a sweet, quaint notion now. I think that pretty much ended the day Bill Clinton was sworn in. Enter the Baby Boomers. Game. Set. Match for the political process.

He's already hit a home run with the SCOTUS appointment and eviscerated a bunch of Obammy's EO's so it has not all been bad my friend.

Never said he didn't self-inflict wounds. But if you think that those who hate him would give up on trying to bring him down, even if he were totally cleared of any wrongdoing and was squeaky clean, you're kidding yourself.

Would still be better than what we had for 8 years under Obama or would have had under Clinton.
