I understand where you're coming from, and part of me almost feels that way. But, I think the contrast between Trump and Sanders would make for a very easy decision, for any anyone who is on the fence.

Those who have already made up their minds are not going to care who the Democrats put forward.

This process of determining who will be the Democratic nominee is more of a race to the bottom. None of them stand a chance of beating Trump. Not with the exhibition of insanity that they have put on.

1932 Presidential Election Map

Shows how little you know. FDR ran on REDUCING the size of government during his 1932 campaign. He ran on deficit reduction and lower taxes.
quote:

FDR began his 1932 campaign for the presidency espousing orthodox fiscal beliefs. He promised to balance the federal budget, which Herbert Hoover had been unable to do. Indeed, when FDR came into office, the national deficit was nearly $3,000,000,000.

FDR's budget balancing was not only based on traditional fiscal economics, but also on politics. Roosevelt believed that a balanced budget was important to instill confidence in consumers, business, and the markets, which would thus encourage investment and economic expansion. As the economy recovered, tax revenues would increase making budget balancing even easier. This traditional view that deficits were bad was also supported by public opinion polls.

Balancing the budget was part of it but social, economic programs (The future new deal) and ending prohibition were also huge components.

Bernie is no FDR and there is very little chance he can win FL or PA. Even smaller chance he can win 270 EV’s.

I'm about as pragmatic as anyone when it comes to politics. There are a couple of dem candidates that COULD take trump on under the right circumstances.

Bernie is not one of them.

0% chance he wins FL or PA...amd he's not even on record nationally with his policies. Most folks arent even watching.

what had just taken place prior to 1932?

And the other post about the war production board...it was socialist crap, but at least there was a semi legit reason for production guidelines and rations

Bernie is to the left of FDR

I tend to agree with OP.

While I do think the chance of Trump beating Sanders is higher it's not worth the risk.

The media doesn't want Sanders but they will totally rally around him if they have to.

A Sanders Presidency would be so insane and damaging it's not worth the risk, even if the risk is small.

I agree with the OP.

If democrats want to turn this country into a communist shithole by nominating Bernie Sanders, let them do it on their own. Don't give them any help.

The power of being told you’ll receive free shite and your debts wiped clean is powerful and precisely the type of stuff the founders worried about when it comes to a democracy. Of course people would vote for the one promising that. Once that happens democracy is dead.

Bingo . The democrats keep taking more and more . If Americans are not smart enough to vote for Trump over Bernie then they deserve the hell Bernie will put us in.

This is way out of touch with reality. Some of you forget how appealing freebies are to at least 47% of this country. They don't think about the side effects.

Totally agree - all we need is some economic crash from the coronavirus to launch an 'anybody but Trump" into the presidency - this would be the end of the nation - especiallialy considering the type of VP that he would tap = Bernie will probably not last 2 years in office.

Absolute disaster looming.
