And if you have what pushed you to it?

The protests and video of the protests at Emory and other schools have me wanting to put away the OT. Stop watching national news and YouTube. Just sit and watch dumb shite like brain candy. Ted Lasso marathon, ridiculousness marathon, old reruns of various shows.

I just don’t understand and don’t WANT to understand why. Why did we toil in a war in the Middle East for 20 years and nothing really. Israel and Palestine after keeping a lid on their hatred let it out and fight for 6 months. Our country descends into chaos.

It can’t be this negative all the time!!

I need a siesta from stupidity. I know there are some hard core people on here who represent EVERYTHING. Doesn’t the biggest liberal, Trump, conspiracy, deep state “loons” here ever put it down for a while.

They say that "ignorance is bliss"; likely true until the consequences of ignorance hit home.

The talk on here does little more than frame arguments and expand potential scenarios for those who might otherwise remain relatively unaware of said arguments. To the degree that the arguments/ideas are the impetus for real action, then those who have a dog in the hunt might perceive said 'arguments'/ideas as inflammatory, or even 'insurrectionist'.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. The history of Humanities' struggle for knowledge toward "the pursuit of happiness" is wrought with pain, as we throw mud on the 'pursuit' wall. I think we may be on the cusp of something big, in that vein.

Good luck.

Every time being banned. I have to stay away from race and DEI subjects or I get in trouble.

Don’t get to 80 and think “I wasted a lot of my life pissed off and arguing with strangers on the internet.”

I’ve taken multiple years-long breaks.

The world isn’t as bad as this board wants to believe it is. You focus on what you focus on, so if the focus is searching for and consuming outrage bait, feeling outraged will be the focus of one’s life. Many here act like such victims but we’re all incredibly lucky.

I hate election years because the board truly becomes a cesspool. They’re all the same, y’all.

There was a time when civil debate was a vehicle for communication… a chance to moderately educate oneself to both sides of most issues.

Now , there is no trustful communication because the politicians and media have blatantly lied to the point where only 6% of Americans polled trust the media on political discussion …. and I suspect even less trust with politicians.

Not much trustful communication in an anonymous platform either …. you just need to exercise the common sense once in awhile.

It’s good to take a break from your phone now and then (one of the reasons I love playing golf) and it’s even better to disconnect from the MSM, especially when on vacation.

Just my dos centavos…

There was a Sandy Hook thread from a couple of years ago that made me take a break. There were some really cruel posters, and had me questioning whether this board was filled with trolls or bonafide crazy people, hiding under the guise of “I’m just asking questions.”

Also got banned for about a year for calling a couple posters crazy on the 2020 election board for believing the nonsense that Mike Lindell and Sydney Powell were pushing. I suspect it was an admin or someone close to them that I called a crazy.

Politicians and the media aren’t why grown men on this board immediately resort to pejorative name calling and insults when someone disagrees with them in this message board.

I mean a break from it all. Just watch local news so I know if it will rain, traffic etc.

Any pundits? Push pause on them.

I just feel that immersing yourself in this crap nonstop can’t be healthy. U need breaks.

Correct

There are always problems in the world. You'd think the sky was falling 24/7 around here anytime a democrat is in the whitehouse

The Obama years were just complete hyperbolic sky screaming
