I had to unfollow a cousin who saves images and posts them to his page. Usually I just unfollow the source of the info, but his method made that impossible so I had to unfollow him directly.
I usually try not to unfollow or unfriend people. The only time I've unfriended someone over politics was a former friend who continuously harassed me on any political topic and would never stay on subject. Just not worth my time.

I don't unfriend or care if I'm unfriended by someone else anymore. I respect my friend's opinions, even if I disagree with them on the issue, and if they won't do the same then good riddance.

Yeah man I made a concerted effort to be civil and they are not having any of it.
Had some chicks from high school actually message me and tell me everyone is tired of political shite on their feed.
These are the same people lamenting "gay concentration camps" and other nonsense.
