Don’t think I’ve seen it discussed here.

25th amendment sections 3 and 4. He decides or the VP and majority of cabinet decide.

If he no longer has the mental capacity to give nuclear release authority to bomb College Station, TX, then he is incapacitated.

Totally at the discretion of the vote of the Cabinet.

I’m not sure I understand your question.
Pelosi has nothing to do with this.
quote:

"In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President," Section 1 of the 25th Amendment reads.

But it's not true that the speaker of the House — or any other predetermined individual — automatically becomes vice president. Upon becoming president, the former vice president would choose another individual to become his or her vice president.

And I wasn’t referring to a President’s death.
I just wondered if a few hours of a high fever, for example, necessitated a temporary swearing in of the VP.

Thanks to the rest of you for your responses.

He has to be unable to understand and make decisions.

If he goes on a ventilator then I think that will be the point.

If the president is not dead but just unable to complete his duties then the VP would assume those duties. He is only sworn in if the president passes away.

I think Trump would decide before Pence ever had to do anything temporarily.
