Since his own party is throwing up so many roadblocks, I can't say I blame him.

I'm still not sure what to think about it.

Until GOP gets their shite together, I'm fine with it. His loyalty is to amaericans and progress. Not party.

But I'm not crazy about it. I don't think he has a choice.

I prefer him to stay on his side of the isle with his people. You never know what will happen when you run into the people from the tail section, and if you wander too far into the woods you run the risk of encountering the smoke monster.

It's what presidents are supposed to do. They are supposed to bring both parties together, and if not, at least get them to work together to pass meaningful legislation. I'm perfectly ok with it.

Don is essentially a third party president. I have no issue with him reaching across the aisle in theory, but the question will be what kinds of policies come out. Good policy doesn't suddenly become bad just because of who spouts it. I gave Obama props when he made good decisions just as I lambasted him for making terrible ones. Hopefully, working with democrats will produce some good policy, but I really doubt the democrat leadership is willing to truly play ball any more than the republican leadership, and the rank in file will always tote the party line.

I think that in the end, this is all going to be just all filler, no killer.

He left it up to the speaker and majority leader for long enough. They have proven their lack of leadership and only want to play party politics.

It's a risky move by Trump but it the grown up thing to do. It might fail and they might not strike a deal but it needs to be attempted.

He's not reaching "across" the aisle

He was, for all practical purposes, a third party candidate.

it's sad this is not the norm for all politicians and we question it when it happens.

It's a brilliant political strategy. If Trump can score some legislative victories with "Chuck & Nancy" it will increase his overall favorable ratings. Later on it will give centrist Dems & Rino's cover to vote for something big - tax reform, the wall, Obama care repeal, whatever. He's neutralizing the moral high ground the dems have been claiming.

This is what so many have forgotten admist the furor dems have been stoking about the extremist right-wing trump...

He was originally a dem. Didn't like how far left they were taking a lot of things, and ran as a repub.

I didnt vote for a hardcore repub. i voted for someone who to me seemed like he would end up being fairly moderate when all is said and done.

The wall was always representative of border security as a whole for me.

If he works with dems, great. Cause I think he essentially moderates them. Its not as if hes walking around tossing out expansions of current or adding additional entitlement programs, etc.

You never start off a negotiation by stating what you actually think is reasonable. You demand the moon, and are happy when you settle down somewhere in the middle lf the two sides.

I'm ok with it as long as they come to reasonable compromise.

Personally I think it's to get Ryan and co to come to the table

Nothing gained, nothing lost, yet. No bills have been signed into law. What he's doing is taking the air out of McCuckell and Cryan's pompous sails and making fools out of them.

I'm for it, for the time being...
