It was the wording I found baffling.

Agree, plus federalism and all that. That often goes out the window when R's are in charge. If liberal Oregon likes their plan they can keep it and the higher premiums.

Now we may have to do something about the subsidies so that lower premium states don't overly subsidize high premium states, but that is really a minor issue for me.

I'd like to see them make it so you can opt out of "essential" benefits. You can even have it so you would have to buy outside the exchange, and you have to waive each one individually via signing an acknowledgement. That way you're not overpaying or even being priced out by coverage you can't use, while the benefits you need are excluded.

I'd also like to see the individual mandate replaced with some other protection against gaming the system, such as condition specific copays that disappear over time. To overcome opposition, declare any condition that was diagnosed or presented symptoms prior to 1/1/18 is not preexisting. After that date, you let your insurance lapse at your own risk.

Also need to get rid of the bigoted marriage penalties but the clowns aren't talking about that.

Also, how will this get enough votes to pass the senate when you need 60 for cloture?

The plan is to design the bill to circumvent cloture.

Would this bill still be like the old one with the 3 step phase where they can pass it with a simple majority due to some loophole

The bill is shaped to be passed through reconciliation where only a simple majority is needed.

However the bill must have a direct impact on the federal budget. There is a decent to fair chance that even if they get this bill to the Senate and passed, the parliamentarian will not find aspects of the law sufficient to qualify under the parameters: The coverage gap premium surcharge administered by insurers, allowing insurers to charge 5x vs 3x the youngest enrollees.

Good luck though! Mid-terms will be ugly if this goes through.

Had no idea this was allowed.

I feel very stupid.

This is a good step forward, but here's my question:

How do they know what the Senate is going to do? All it would take is 3 GOP Senators to flip. McCain & Graham could easily flip. They hate Trump.

No it wont be funny. I know you are team democrat and all but in the end we all lose with the current Ocare. So take the partisan glasses off for a second.

I, like 60%+ of the American People, would prefer a reworking of the ACA to a repeal and replacement with this Trumpcare garbage.

You want something that has been a complete disaster to be reworked? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Not.
