For 25 years the Monumental Task Committee has refurbished, cleaned, and maintained all monuments within the city. Once Mitch tried to remove them, the city started paying crews to clean them so Mitch can argue the city loses money on it. Every time it happens now, there is a foot race between the city and volunteer group to clean them.
