This. There's a tribal mentality that becomes so much engaged when there aren't any white people within earshot. It's simply not like other minorities.

i live in a small town in alabama where everybody has known everybody for all of their lives, and we all get along and respect each other....we have no crime to speak of and when there is a problem it's usually a white kid on drugs....the biggest reason for all of this harmony between us?....simple, on sunday mornings and sunday nights, the churches are pretty full....thats the only thing that is going to fix this mess

It's a live and let live attitude here. We've lived together for so long, there isn't any angst

I work with many people of color everyday, and the interactions are so cordial it's stupid.

I swear some of you have never met a black person in real life

People always talk differently in homogenous groups. Most people on this board has had conversations about "those people" among groups of like minded white people.
That doesn't mean you hate blacks anymore than they hate you as a whole. SOME black people hate white people, and some white people hate black people.
In real every day life, whites and blacks generally get a long just fine.

Don't know, never asked, never cared one way or the other...why waste my time/energy on such shallowness

I'll say this, I see it on tv all the time (Hollywood, comedians sports, etc), but I've honestly never seen it in real life in northern Louisiana.
I think it's a metropolitan thing.

cant speak for the current generation, but the past generation before didn't so much hate whites, just didn't trust whites. Black community I grew up in would have preferred to police itself much more, they viewed crime very differently than whites. They analyzed certain situations and negotiated very differently than whites.

Why you think the Dems had to bring in shite stirrers to BR this summer?
Posted on 11/11/16 at 7:23 pm to mizzoukills
No, but the ones that do are louder and more vocal about their opinion, hell they even hate other blacks.

Maybe, but if they have one person who's not a member and has been around a long time, they don't alter their behavior anymore. Like if you're the only white person or the only guy, everyone will just be themselves.

quote:So you disregard years of personal experiences because of some snippets on the news, which disproportionately covers negative events?
Therefore, I grew up in a place where whites and blacks mostly got along.
And even if you didn't know that the news covered the negative, did you stop to wonder why the types of positive experiences you had don't typically show up in the news?
You know they occur everyday, so didn't it occur that maybe they don't cover that--like they don't cover all of the good people do for one another any day, despite knowing it's happening?
