But he's not a client, remember? Why would his name come up if he's not a client? He's either a client, or he's trying to city attorney-client privilege to hide something from the FBI. Remember, this hearing is about what the FBI can look at of Cohen's seized property.

Cohen said he was a client.

Hannity tweeted that he was not a client.

Hannity's real lawyers' heads exploded.

Then Hannity woke up and said on his show that he was basically a client but had not paid Cohen.

Cohens client list is public record as of today and Cohen had Hannity listed as one of his clients.

There is no spin other than Hannity is denying what Cohen confirmed.

Makes you wonder why he requested Cohen not release his name as a client then, if we're to believe that actually happened.

Cohen didn't want to name anyone. Trump and the other guy were already known.

I understand that this raid was BS, but can we agree that it is safe say that everyone even remotely involved with Cohen should be very worried. You do not have to be a criminal to go down. Federal law is such a shakedown.

this I can agree with...

it's like getting mail from the IRS...you know you're not a criminal but your heart kind of stops when you see the letter head.

so yeah, I'd be nervous because you know the questions are coming.

all the while your thinking "The FBI missed 2 calls warning them of the Florida shooter but they no knock raid Trump's attorney over a porn star's alleged relationship 12 year ago.

and how does this connect the dots to Russia investigation?

it doesn't.

Even David Hogg would call BS

That is because his real lawyers are telling him he made a huge mistake with the tweet, and his employer is pissed.

Some perspective via Twitter.

Just imagine how Sean Hannity would respond if it were true that Obama’s personal lawyer, the target of a criminal investigation, was also secretly the lawyer for Rachel Maddow—and she had been using her show to defend the lawyer without disclosing that relationship. Just imagine

The news saying Cohen doesn't get Atty/client priv because he was barely a lawyer is BS. (If you are the lawyer of a billionaire you don't need any other clients)

Not necessarily. Whether you have many clients or just one (and even if you are an in-house attorney), you still must act and communicate on truly legal matters in a manner consistent with an attorney representing his/her client for the privilege to attach.

I've seen examples of where courts invalidated the privilege when they concluded that lawyers acted and communicated more like project managers or business advisors than as attorneys.

so is he a client or not. Did he represent him in a case? or does he just give advice for money? I can see where "client" is a loose term here.

but either way I don't see any significance here.

Just wondering. Like Mueller is investigating something or other about Trump, what, exactly, is the something or other crime that Cohen is being investigated for and what does it have to do with Trump?? Serious question. It all seems to rest on "Just wait!...we'll find something or other!"
In both instances, it's seems like the cart before the horse. In other words, a fishing expedition, imo.

Based on limited info, they were probably being overly transparent in naming anyone with whom there could possibly be an expectation of privilege. Is everyone saying that simply consulting with an attorney in a professional capacity is absolutely not privileged?

This could be just semantical differences between Hannity and Cohen/his attorney.

Hannity tweeted that he was not. Then he said on his show that he had sought legal advice and that the communications with Cohen were protected.

Here is my take.

Sean: Oh, shite! My wife is going to think I boffed a porn star! Better make clear he wasn't my attorney. *tweets*

Sean's Secretary: Sean, your real lawyers are on the phone.

Real Lawyer: Are you a complete idiot? If he isn't your lawyer, anything he recorded in your conversation will come up. Say on your show that you were seeking legal advice and that your conversations were privileged!

And that is exactly what he did.
