Things will get to the point where we probably have 5 or 6 "resigned" top cabinet officials in place because Barry couldn't get anyone ratified.

he does not carry the clout with his congressional republicans.

that much is certainly true, they eviscerated him at the hearings.

100% on congress IMHO.

Unless there is a giant red flag, the executive should have its choice on appointed positions

It is past time to get tough with Barry the Spoiled Brat. He gets NOTHING..no appointments at all hell I would even refuse to pay his salary.

Cut his money off until he obeys the law.

When Obama decides to start following precedents instead of setting them, he can get replacements appointed.

Disagree with on SecDef.

That's where some adult supervision is needed. And if he goes with a career person, he might just get it.

I'm sure that's why Gates stayed on for him. I think he was trying desperately to keep Obama from doing anything too stupid.

Of course, that didn't always work though.

According to NYT link I posted.

Unless an official gets caught doing something wrong, they are allowed to "resign", even if they are fired.

Administration hoped he would be a "yes" man. As unqualified as Hagel may be even he could not pretend that some things weren't a problem.

how is it he wasn't qualified? ... didn't tow the bush/cheney line? ...

From the article.

quote:

“The next couple of years will demand a different kind of focus,” one administration official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. He insisted that Mr. Hagel was not fired, saying that the defense secretary initiated discussions about his future two weeks ago with the president, and that the two men mutually agreed that it was time for him to leave.

I did. He got raked over the coals for Kinsley gaffes by a bunch of Republicans drunk on sour grapes. Nothing in his confirmation hearing touched on his formal qualifications, unless "kissing Israel's arse" is a formal qualification (even if you think it is, that's State, not Defense!)

Most of it was just haymaking for being insufficiently America frick Yeah.

What the hell did Chuck expect; the ability to dissemble and lie - even and especially on the most serious issues - is a prerequisite for any high up Obama official. I guess he figured that holding the Title and getting the retirement pay/speaking circuit juice for a couples of years is worth the indignity of serving a corrupt Adm. I'd hate to have that dead albatross resume around my neck.

We'll get a no-nonsense anti-PC warrior in there sooner or later. Probably when we get slammed again.

Do not confirm ANYONE and force Hagel to stay on. Do not let Holder step down. Obama likes to punish his enemies I say no appointments no anything.

dude, he was fired. They always "resign" but when they go without rumors, its a firing.
